Have you completed your practice yet today?

Did giving it a definite time or place make it easier? If it did not, pay attention. The time may be wrong. The practice may be too large. Your schedule may be showing you something that you did not know on Saturday.

Do not abandon the objective simply because the first arrangement needs correction.

Repeat the same practice again today.
That is the assignment. Do not make it more interesting because you are bored. Do not make it bigger because you have been doing well. Do not abandon it because yesterday was imperfect.

Return to it. Then notice whether you have to argue with yourself as much as you did on the first day. Notice whether you remember sooner. Notice whether the environment is beginning to carry some of the work.

These small changes matter. They are signs that the practice is beginning to occupy a real place in your life.

This Is Why the School Has a Rhythm
The School of Orisa Studies does not depend upon random bursts of inspiration.

Students come to class. They read. They work through the Study Guide. They preform dream analysis. They practice. They explain what they understand. Facilitators correct what needs correction. Assessments reveal what has and has not been learned. Then everybody returns to the work again.

That return is essential. A school cannot form people simply by giving them access to information and hoping exposure produces competence. You become capable by returning to the material, working with it, receiving correction and improving over time.

That is why I continue to make the distinction between information and formation. Seeing the material is not the same as being changed by the work.

If we’re going to speak on Odu Ifa, let us speak deeply. My mission is to restore the African mind.

The Practice Does Not Need to Be New Today
Novelty can make almost anything feel powerful for a little while.

You buy a new book and become excited about study. You receive new beads and become more attentive to devotion. You attend a ceremony and feel renewed. You begin a new routine and the first few days feel unusually meaningful.
Then the newness disappears.
This is where rhythm begins teaching something different.

A way of life cannot depend upon every prayer being dramatic or every study session producing revelation. Some things become powerful because they are ordinary enough to survive the disappearance of excitement. So, do not improve the practice today. Do not make it longer. Do not add another layer. Return to what you have already been doing.

What you repeat begins to form you.
Sometimes the deepest sign of progress is that the right thing is becoming normal.

We are three days into the seven day worship week. Have you gotten around to your daily practice yet? If not what has interrupted you most often?

Give me one answer: fatigue, phone, work, children, poor timing, forgetfulness, overcommitment or something else.

Name the problem plainly. Once you can name it, you can begin addressing it correctly.

Take a moment today to sit and ask yourself, what is one thing you can change in today’s practice to improve?

If the time is wrong, move it. If the practice is too long, shorten it. If the materials are never ready, prepare them. If the practice gets buried under other obligations, put it earlier in your day.
Then observe what happens.

You do not need to reinvent the entire week.
Make one practical correction.
