Our Wildlands Committee has been busy advocating for Roadless Rule protections ahead of the upcoming October 6 public comment deadline.

Last weekend, the Wildlands Committee co-hosted a Roadless Rule & Brews postcard writing event with Georgia ForestWatch at the beautiful mountainside NoFo Brew Co Cleveland Brewery. Yesterday 20 enthusiastic students with KSU's Adopt-A-Stream learned about the benefits of roadless areas to local watersheds and took advocacy actions for the Roadless Rule!

Next week, Wildlands Chair Dani Purvis will meet with the offices of Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock and Senator Jon Ossoff to hand deliver postcards from residents all over Georgia advocating for the Roadless Rule. Contact their offices today (202-224-3121) and tell them to co-sponsor S.2042 Roadless Area Conservation Act, which would codify the Roadless Rule into law.

"Redacted in its entirety" is not acceptable when it comes to public disclosure. But that's the only thing on the page on the public version of the contract between OpenAI and Georgia Power to supply electricity to a proposed 3.2 gigawatt data center in Effingham County outside Savannah. Take action by Aug. 26 at the link below to tell state officials at the Public Service Commission that the public deserves more information about this multi-billion dollar project!
