A GIGANTIC shout-out to Theatrical Outfit and their heart-wrenching and oh-so-wonderful production of Fences by August Wilson. 
 
The best part? About 31 of my students were there as well, and we were all treated to a masterclass in acting. Seeing so many of them moved and inspired made my heart sing. Sharing in some theatre simply does something that film can’t quite do-and that I can’t quite describe.  
 
For actors: it can help you get to those film and television dreams in ways that acting ONLY in film and TV can’t.  
 
So do it. Feel the fear and do it anyway.  
 
Even just AUDITIONING for theatre will make you better-especially the in-person auditions.

Four years ago today I was in a 90 degree room with no air conditioning in the UK - desperately trying to keep up with a bunch of artists 1/3 my age - while I learned about devising for the theatre. It was the best thing ever and we’ve been playing “Popcorn” ever since. Thank you Frantic Assembly and Gavin Maxwell 😀 We still need to make something.

Every week you get sides chosen for where you are right now. You prepare, we work it on camera, break it down together, and you get notes from the casting director’s side of the table before going again.
