We are saddened to share the passing of Retired SRO George Sharp.

George devoted many years of his life to serving others through law enforcement in Tuscumbia and Colbert County. His final chapter of service was with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a School Resource Officer assigned to Falkville Schools.

In that role, George was much more than a law enforcement presence on campus. He became part of the Falkville school family, building relationships with students, faculty, staff, and families while helping provide a safe and caring environment for those entrusted to him.

George continued serving faithfully until his battle with cancer ultimately led to his retirement. Even through that difficult fight, the dedication and strength that defined his career remained evident to those who knew and loved him.

As he battled, he would often share "Brother, I'm not worried about cancer, I made eternal reservations a long time ago. I know where I am going".

He also dedicated countless hours to supporting his fellow brothers and sisters in law enforcement through his involvement with the State of Alabama Fraternal Order of Police.

George's commitment to his community, his profession, and especially the young people he served touched countless lives.

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, fellow officers, the Falkville Schools community, and the many people whose lives were impacted by his service and friendship.

Limestone won an excellence in construction honor from the Associated Buildings and Contractors for collaboration with the county, having no loss time on the project due to injuries, integrating sports equipment and making a significant impact on the immediate community.
