Flack Farm
We are a small family farm growing and learning together. We Garden fresh veggies, and fruits. I hope to soon try my hand at beekeeping as well.
Raise cows, blue butt pigs, nubian goats, americauna chickens, dogs, cats, and children. We occasionally have/have had llamas, turkeys, ducks, rabbits, guineas, various other chicken breeds and other goat breeds. We're a lot like blue bell ~ eat all we can, and sell the rest. Throughout the year you can buy/trade from us, hay, fruits and veggies (fresh or preserved) fresh made cheeses, baby anima

You've probably seen the news about the recent Cyclospora outbreak in Texas. So what is it, and why does it happen? We had A LOT of questions about this at last week's market.
Cyclospora is a microscopic parasite that can contaminate fresh produce. People become sick when they eat fruits or vegetables that have been exposed to contaminated water or poor sanitation during growing, harvesting, or processing. Unlike many other foodborne illnesses, Cyclospora needs time outside the human body before it becomes infectious, meaning it almost always points to contamination somewhere in the production chain—not from someone simply handling your food.
This is one reason why a small home garden has a much lower risk. When you grow your own produce, or purchase from a small grower- you know exactly where your irrigation water comes from, what fertilizers were used, and who handled your fruits and vegetables from seed to harvest. There are far fewer opportunities for contamination than in large commercial operations where produce may pass through many hands and travel hundreds or even thousands of miles before reaching your plate.
Of course, good gardening practices still matter. Wash your harvest, use clean water for irrigation, compost safely, and keep pets and wildlife away from edible plants whenever possible. We make every effort to protect our produce not only because we sell it, we eat it it too!
Growing your own food isn't just rewarding—it's one more way to have confidence in what's on your family's table. 🌱🥕🍅

The 2 melons are the largest cantaloupe I have EVER grown! Each weighing in at just over FOUR POUNDS. 🤯
Testing the first watermelons with the spoon leaf method for our family festivities tomorrow.
This mornings harvest took 2 people a full 2 hours to get out of the garden. This is the most hauled inside at a single harvest so far this season.
Pm me to arrange orders and meet ups for Sunday!
