Rush Creek Sanctuary's (BTKL Education & Animal Rescue Centerโ€™s) mission is to expand existing equine ๏ฟผrescue & public service. Located in Decatur Texas.

You are welcome to donate at: https://square.link/u/SdjN104J?src=sheet We are a rescue sanctuary for animals ranging from wildlife to farm to domestic. The concept of rehabbing and rehoming to a forever home is important to us. Some animals will remain on site to work with our pet therapy programs for special needs children and adults disabled veterans, terminally ill patients and people experiencing emotional stress. Over the last 25 years we have come together with scouts to provide outdoor educational overnight camping facilities to include animal therapy. We provide refuge for animals, veterans, and individuals with special needs or circumstances. These places offer care, support, and a safe environment for those in need. We are reaching out to introduce our group, the services, and programs we will be offering, and to solicit your support. ๐Ÿ”ฅ 25 YEARS OF CAMPFIRESโ€ฆ AND A NEW CHAPTER OF HEALING ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿด

For 25 years, our camp has been a special place for Scouts to gather, learn, grow, sit around the fire, and make memories under the Texas sky.brooks has water , cold and electric.

Now, we are incredibly excited to open this special place to another group very close to our hearts: our veterans, their families, and nonprofit veteran organizations.

We want this camp to become a place where veterans and families can simply come out, slow down, talk, listen, heal, and reconnect.

Sometimes healing doesn't happen inside four walls.

Sometimes it happens sitting beside a campfire.

Sometimes it's a conversation with another veteran who understands.

Sometimes it's watching the fire, listening to the horses nearby, and realizing you don't have to carry everything alone.

Our vision is to create a beautiful outdoor gathering area for campfire chats, peer-to-peer support, fellowship, family time, and healing in nature. โค๏ธ

We are currently working to upgrade the campsite with a new fire pit, string lighting throughout the camp area, and improvements to our restroom and shower facilities. We have these items, but we need to convert them to have handicap-accessible capabilities so that our veterans and family members with mobility needs can comfortably and safely use them.

And this is where our community may be able to help. ๐Ÿ™

We are looking for new or gently used building materials, solar or electric outdoor string lights, fire-pit blocks or stone, materials and fixtures needed to convert our restrooms and showers for handicap accessibility, plumbing supplies, lumber, and other materials that could help us complete these improvements.

We would be incredibly grateful for donated materials, but we would also love to hear from businesses, contractors, suppliers, plumbers, electricians, or individuals who may be able to provide materials or labor at a greatly reduced cost.

Every board, block and strand of lights can become part of something much bigger: a place where someone sits down, opens up, and begins to heal.

This camp has already spent 25 years creating memories.

Now we want its next chapter to help change lives.

๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿด Sampson & Mโ…›e: Healing Together, One Step at a Time ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ’œ

Every morning, Sampson and I wake up with the same goal: fight a little harder, get a little stronger, and take one more step forward.

Neither one of us chose the pain that brought us to this place, but somehow God put us on this healing journey together.

Sampson has been through so much in his life, and now I understand his struggle in a completely different way. There are days when walking hurts. There are days when progress feels painfully slow. But then I look at him, and he looks at me, and we keep going.

We are learning together that healing isn't always measured in big milestones. Sometimes it's one more step. A little less pain. A little more strength. Or simply finding the courage to get up and try again.

Every day we fight harder, and every day we get a little better.

Sampson is teaching me just as much about healing as I could ever teach him. Maybe that's one of the greatest gifts these incredible horses give us. We rescue them, but somewhere along the way, they reach into our hearts and help rescue pieces of us too. ๐Ÿ’œ

I also want to give a very special thank you to Ashley, who sponsors one of Sampson's joint medications. That medication helps give him comfort and mobility, and your kindness is truly part of his healing journey.

So Sampson and I will keep going. One day. One step. One victory at a time.

We aren't giving up on each other.

God has brought us this far, and I believe He is walking right beside us for every step still to come. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿด๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿด๐Ÿ’œ PEPPER & REMY UPDATE โ€” WHAT A DIFFERENCE LOVE CAN MAKE ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿด

The first 2 pictuers are before and the rest after. They are in a loving forever home.

We love sharing updates with our Rush Creek Sanctuary family, especially when we can look back at where one of our rescues started and see just how far they have come.

When Pepper and Remy came to us in January, Pepper was in terrible condition. Seeing her then was heartbreaking. She needed time, proper nutrition, veterinary care, patience, and most of all, she needed to know that she was finally safe.

Today, looking at her almost brings tears to our eyes. โค๏ธ

Pepper is healthy, beautiful, happy, and thriving. Her body has changed, but even more importantly, so has her spirit. She knows she is loved. She knows where her next meal is coming from. She can simply be a horse again, surrounded by people who care about her and her sweet Remy.

This is why we rescue.

Sometimes healing doesn't happen overnight. It happens one meal, one gentle touch, one day of safety, and one little step at a time. Then one day you look at the horse standing in front of you and can hardly believe she is the same horse who arrived months before.

Pepper, you fought for this life, sweet girl, and look at you now. ๐Ÿดโค๏ธ

Thank you to everyone who supports Rush Creek Sanctuary and makes transformations like Pepper's possible. Every donation, every volunteer hour, every prayer, and every person who shares our story becomes part of their journey.

๐ŸŒฟ A RUSH CREEK RESCUE UPDATE: WILLOW ๐ŸŒฟ

We love keeping our Rush Creek family updated on the precious animals who come through our gates, find their forever homes, and begin the next chapter of their lives. Today, we have a beautiful update on Willow. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿด

If you remember Willow, she came to us as a very young filly who had been almost completely unhandled. Someone reached out to us after seeing her in Bowie and lovingly pleaded with us to please give this little girl a chance. Willow had an injured leg, appeared to be in pain, and needed someone willing to fight for her.

So we said yes.

Before we even picked her up, a wonderful family had already fallen in love with her and wanted to adopt her. Willow came to Rush Creek Sanctuary first, where our trainer began working patiently with her. Our veterinarian came out several times, we treated her injured leg, and for nearly two months we worked on earning her trust and teaching her to halter and lead.

It wasn't easy. Willow was scared, unhandled, injured, and difficult to treat up close because she simply didn't understand yet that people were there to help her.

There were even people who saw her and believed euthanasia would be the answer because of her leg and the challenges involved in treating an injured, unhandled horse.

But her adopter didn't give up. And neither did we.

There was something about Willow that kept telling us to keep fighting for her. โค๏ธ

And look at her now.

Willow is home. She is loved. She is spoiled. She is learning to trust, opening her heart more every day, and discovering what it feels like to be someone's treasured baby.

Most importantly, Willow is going to have the opportunity to live a full life surrounded by people who love her.

To Willow's wonderful adopters, thank you. Thank you for seeing beyond the injury and beyond the challenges. Thank you for your patience, your commitment, and every bit of love and care you continue to give this precious girl.

This is why rescue matters.

Sometimes an animal doesn't need someone to decide what they can't become. They simply need someone willing to give them the time, care, patience, and chance to show us who they can become.

Willow got her chance. And she is blooming. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’œ

Healing animals. Changing lives. One beautiful second chance at a time.
