Arbor Montessori School
AMI Montessori school serving children from 18 months through 9th grade. Go here, then go anywhere. We have two Decatur campuses.
Founded in 1970, Arbor is one of the largest Montessori schools in the Southeast—the flagship of Montessori education in Atlanta. One at 2998 Lavista Road and the second at 1434 Scott Boulevard. The school includes one Toddler classroom, four Primary classes, five Elementary classes and a thriving Adolescent Program. We are accredited by AMI, SACS and SAIS. Our Mission:
The mission of Arbor Montessori School is to develop the unique capabilities of each child through supportive relationships, joyful learning and meaningful work in a Montessori environment. We seek to foster independence in each child, preparing him or her to contribute with integrity to the community of the larger world.

Happy National Coffee Day! ☕
At Arbor, coffee and conversations go hand in hand.
Whether it’s catching up at drop-off, chatting with a teacher, or sharing a few minutes with friends at Coffee Corner, some of the best parts of community happen over a cup of coffee.
Grab your favorite mug and take a moment to connect with someone in your Arbor community. How do you take your coffee? ☕

In Montessori classrooms, grace and courtesy skills are practiced at every age and evolve alongside the child.
In our Upper Elementary classrooms, students practice how to speak to one another respectfully, be mindful of their tone, care for shared materials and spaces, and take responsibility for cleaning up after themselves.
These everyday moments are practical life work, too. Learning to contribute to a community, respect others, care for the environment, and take responsibility for our choices are skills that children carry far beyond the classroom.
Sometimes, the simplest lessons make the biggest impact to create a more peaceful world.

🍂 Fall is settling in at Arbor! The changing seasons, cooler mornings, and the rhythm of routines make this a special time on campus. It's wonderful to watch children settle into their classrooms, build new friendships, and grow more confident in their daily learning.
As we settle in, we also look ahead. Applications for the 2027–28 school year open on Thursday, October 1st!
Curious about Montessori education? Is Arbor the right fit for your family? Now is a great time to learn more. Stay tuned for more about admissions, opportunities to visit campus, and what makes Arbor the destination for Montessori education in the Southeast.

Today for , we pause for reflection as a school community—an Arbor tradition and a reminder that peace is something we practice.
How do Montessori classrooms practice peace? By learning to listen, resolving conflicts, sharing materials, caring for our community, and deepening our understanding of people around the world.
The work to establish lasting peace continues: how will you build a culture of peace today?

Our Phoenix runners kicked off the season with a very hot afternoon at Mill Springs! ☀️🏃♀️🏃♂️
Despite the heat and blazing sun, every runner made it across the finish line. A little extra encouragement from recent alum Zuri, Class of '26, helped keep everyone moving!
We’re proud of our cross country team for showing up, supporting one another, and giving it their all. Go Phoenix! 🔥

A key principle of Montessori education is, “Follow the Child.” What does this mean in the classroom each day?
Arbor teachers observe children closely, recognize their interests and development needs, and provide the freedom and support to learn and grow at their own pace.
Instead of asking, “how do we get every child to the same standard?” Montessori teachers ask, “where is this child right now and what support do they need next?”
This simple idea has a powerful impact: children allowed to learn at their own pace become adults who aren’t afraid to blaze their own trails, imagine what’s possible, and change the world. 💛
