🚨Spirit Rally - Postponed TBD 🚨

The timing between dismissal and the HoCo parade proved having a proper celebration difficult. We will be announcing a new date for Spirit Night before a BHMS Basketball game! We *still* will have a pop-up at BHMS 4:15-4:45 with treats, and Decatur Bulldog swag to help our students get in the HoCo spirit en route to the parade! Be on the Look-out for more details when we return from break!

Rocking into Geology!🌋
Our 6th-grade scientists kicked off their Geology unit in high gear with an interactive workshop from High Touch High Tech! Students explored Earth’s formation, examining the powerful constructive and destructive forces that constantly reshape our world. Huge shoutout to our 6th-grade science team for coordinating such a dynamic, hands-on learning experience for our Bulldogs!

Welcome, new Instructional Coach of Math, Science, and Connections, Ms. Kenya Nelson!

Ms. Nelson brings over 20 years of experience as a teacher, instructional leader, and program director. She has a strong background in leading data-driven coaching cycles, supporting PLCs, and using differentiated instruction to drive student achievement. Additionally, her unique background in Human Resources strengthens her communication and organizational skills, making her a great partner for our team.

Her collaborative approach and passion for student success make her a wonderful addition to the BHMS family.

🍋Victory is Sweet: 6th Grade Blue Wins Spirit Day!
Our first school Spirit Day on September 28 was an absolute blast! A huge thank you to our PBIS team for organizing such a memorable event, and to all of our staff and students for bringing their enthusiasm to campus. Keep shining bright, Bulldogs!

🍋And the Winner Is... Competition was tight across all grade levels, but 6th Grade Blue brought the ultimate energy and earned the top spot as our Spirit Day champions!

🍋A Sweet Celebration: To honor their victory, 6th Grade Blue was treated to an extra-special lemonade party during their brain break this week.
🍋Shout out to Ms. Glenn, Ms. Godfrey, and Ms. Rashid-Austin for serving up the lemonade to the winners!

Beacon Hill Middle School Cheerleading team cheers their FIRST FOOTBALL GAME!!!!

The BHMS cheerleading team recently cheered at their first football game of the season. The team practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays and has been preparing cheers to support the football team.

Fiona Loomis, a base of the cheer team, said the team has learned lots of cheers. When asked about the football game, Fiona said, “ I think me and the team did an amazing job and can't wait for the next game.” Although the football team did not win, the cheerleaders continued to support the team during the game.

According to Violet Beattie, she stated on August 25 that “The cheer team practices on Tuesday and Thursday at the school while she is at volleyball practice. She says, “The cheer team has learned so many cheers that she can't believe they are able to remember them.”

Violet said she heard lots of positive comments about the cheerleaders and the football players from her friends. The cheerleaders' performance at the game gave them an opportunity to show off their skills while still supporting the football team.

The BHMS cheerleading team will continue practicing and preparing for their upcoming football games. The team plans to use the cheers they have learned to continue supporting the football players throughout the season.
