Members of the Wise County Sheriff’s Office and Wise County EMS were recently recognized with Letters of Commendation for their actions during a serious traffic crash. The video of the incident was previously shared by Fox 4 News.

Investigator Chandler Works and 2 other Wise County investigators, along with D/O Paramedic Joseph Sheddy and D/O EMT Aaron Mann, demonstrated quick thinking, teamwork, and determination when they encountered a major crash while returning from training.

Their willingness to immediately stop, assess the situation, call for additional resources, and work together to safely extricate a trapped driver is a powerful example of what public safety is all about: showing up, stepping in, and doing whatever it takes to protect life.

We are proud to recognize these five for their outstanding service to our community and beyond.

Wise County is under a 90 burn ban!! NO BURNING ALLOWED!🚨🚨🚨

School is officially in session across Wise County, which means our SROs are back in the halls and ready for another great school year! 📚

The National Weather Service has issued an ELEVATED FIRE WARNING for today, the burn ban is active.

The Wise County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a training exercise today in the area of CR 4873 and CR 4876 in Newark.

Residents may notice an increased presence of law enforcement and EMS personnel in the area. Please do not be alarmed—this is a planned training exercise, and there is no threat to the public.
