Unpopular opinion: Tyler Reddick's problem is not Tyler Reddick.

He finished third at Las Vegas on Sunday and said it is pretty much normal to have issues all day long for us on this team, that it is just what they are used to. An alternator problem, a battery change after stage one, and an 18 second final pit stop. His words on the car he had: we have to capitalize when we have a Toyota Camry as fast as this, and we have not done that in a very long time.

He gained five points. He sits 106 back of Kyle Larson with five races left, in a car Michael Jordan owns.

Three of the first four Chase races had no qualifying.

Rain wiped out time trials at Darlington, Bristol and Kansas, so NASCAR set those lineups with its rainout formula, which weights the previous race 70 percent. At Darlington that meant your starting spot in a Chase race came out of a Daytona superspeedway race full of wrecked contenders. NASCAR now says the metric will probably change, but not before this season ends. Kyle Larson's fix is simple. When it rains out, line them up by points.

O'Reilly Series: Ford has led four laps all season. Chevrolet has led 4,020 and has won 25 of the 28 points races.

Chevrolet has won eight straight. Brandon Jones at Chicagoland on July 4 was the last driver to beat them. Corey Day led 136 of 201 laps from the pole at Las Vegas, and Chevrolet swept the podium and took seven of the top ten. Chevrolet also entered 28 of the 36 cars at Las Vegas. Toyota entered six and Ford entered two.

Chase Briscoe led 175 of the 267 laps at Las Vegas, swept both stages, and still had to watch Kyle Larson throw it at the wall on the last lap trying to catch him. Larson collected Tyler Reddick on the way by and both of them dragged broken cars across the line in second and third. 186.787 miles per hour. That was Denny Hamlin's pole speed at Las Vegas on Saturday, the front of a Toyota top-five qualifying sweep. He spun by himself in turn 4 on lap 78, suspected splitter damage, ran 28th at the end of stage one, then a fuel pickup issue cost him more. He finished 16th.

He is 40 points back of Kyle Larson at the halfway point of The Chase.

Larson is the only driver in the field with a top five in all five Chase races. Fifth, win, second, win, second. He has led 459 of the 1,648 laps run since the Chase began.
