Last night we also celebrated the retirement of Instructor Mike McKeen. Next month will mark 45 years in the fire service with 31 of those years teaching at DACC.

In 31 years, with an average of about 18 students per class; two, sometimes three classes a year; there are over 1,770 graduates from this program Mike has trained.

Even up to his very last day of doing dressouts he still had that passion, that desire to stress the importance of doing it right every single time.

Mike, enjoy official retirement now, you’ve left the fire service in a better place and every single one of us will be proud to carry on your legacy. Thank you for everything.

Unfortunately we have sad news of the passing of our former high school fire and EMS instructor Dan Huffman after a long battle with cancer. Keeping his family, friends, and students in our thoughts.
