My name is Einer Rubilar, born in Chile and followed my heart to America in 2002. I was determined to make a better life for me, but I did not know is that my trip to America and then take me to Uganda. My first adventure to Uganda was full of personal and professional triumph, and a test of my own faith. For the first time in my life I have seen first hand what poverty in Uganda seemed. I witness
ed children hungry and asking for help. Parents with a look of "despair" and his blank look of fear and they also knew that their own future and the future of their children was unknown. When I boarded the plane back to the United States I stopped questioning myself, "What can I do?" "Can I make a difference?" Those two questions repeated over and over in my mind for years. My own American journey was full of a lot of punches, but he never forgot the people in Uganda. In 2012 I was determined to return to Uganda, but that financially meant things would have to change for me. After having three jobs, luckily I have my health, I was able to return to Uganda in December 2013 for 45 days. With the help of some local officials, I was able to find old wells that became hidden by overgrown jungle and repair one by one. I saw how the townspeople for once hoped to clean water. Just days before they were drinking the same river that the animals did, it was full of bacteria. I know this is not the solution to the problem, but I knew it was a great start. With each passing people in the towns embraced me day, they were eager to learn how to take care of the wells. I started teaching small education on the importance of clean water and the preservation of the land they live outside. Survival for them was the thought of today and tomorrow or the future was unimaginable. Once again, I began to ask questions of the same villagers who had done me friend. I learned that the government was willing to provide trees to the locals if they promised to plant more than two for every cutting. I found myself questioning why people in Buwanga sub-county were not aware of it. Unfortunately, the villagers rarely go to the city due to lack of transport and money. With each well now I can repair a village meeting is held to determine who will keep her and overseas. Education is now provided on the importance of replacing forestry are cleared or when using the land. The future is now considered and villages are preparing. I'm not looking to solve the problems of poverty, I'm looking to offer hope and promise of a future through drinking water, maintaining their food supply and educate them about the importance of tomorrow. I'm not just traveling to another country that will place that has a special place in my heart. I have a purpose, a mission to help reduce the number of children who have died from hunger or have died of disease in your water supply. Tomorrow and the future is already a reality. The feeding program for school in Uganda Sserinya Community has, for the moment with breakfast for 160 children, previously only fed once a day, sometimes once every two days.
