🍯 Show Me the Honey: Annual Community Bakeoff 🍰

Calling all local bakers! Join us on Saturday, September 19 at 1 p.m. for this year’s Annual Community Bakeoff, featuring Florida local honey as the star ingredient.

Create an original cake, pie, bar, muffin, tart or other full-size dessert that lets the sweet taste of locally produced Florida honey shine. Registration is open to adults ages 18 and older and is limited to 20 contestants.

🎉 People’s Choice Award
📅 Registration closes Monday, September 7 at 5 p.m.

This year’s celebrity judges include Lisbet “LB” Summa, Executive Culinary Director and Chef Partner of Big Time Restaurant Group, and Winnie Diggans Edwards, Executive Director of the Delray Beach Historical Society.

Not a baker? Come enjoy the fun! The event is free and open to the community, with no registration required. Guests can enjoy a baking demonstration, shaved ice from Icestacy and sweet treat samples from participating bakers.

📚 Temporary Library Closure

The Delray Beach Public Library will be closed from Sunday, August 16 through Wednesday, September 9 for major building renovations.

The Library will reopen on Thursday, September 10 at 9:00 a.m.

During the closure, patrons can continue to enjoy the Library’s digital resources, including Libby, Hoopla and CloudLibrary, with their library card.

6:00 p.m. - Gin, Rum & Rummy. Shuffle up for a lively night of open-play Gin Rummy for all skill levels. Cards and scoresheets will be provided, along with cocktails, mocktails, and light bites. Ages 21+. Tickets are $25 and registration is required.

10:00 a.m. - Saturday Writers Studio. A reading and critique group for authors wishing to polish their manuscripts for publication or personal distribution. This session meets in person at the library.

Mango Languages is one of the library’s databases for language learning. Included with a Mango Languages subscription, Mango Reader helps learners improve their reading comprehension through real world articles, instant translations, native speaker audio and vocabulary tools.
