Dorothy is a 1.5 year-old, medium-sized All-American dog who is basically a bundle of joy with four legs! 💕 She’s silly, sweet, affectionate, and always ready to be part of the action.

Dorothy has lots of energy and LOVES to run, wrestle, play with toys, and hang out with other dogs. She plays hard and can be a little “annoying little sister,” so she needs a confident, playful dog companion who can keep up with her.

When she’s not zooming around, Dorothy loves nothing more than cuddling up with her people. She’s kennel trained and knows sit and how to settle.

She would do best with kids 10+, a securely fenced yard, and an active person, couple, or family. Cats are unknown. She can get mouthy when overly excited, so continued work on manners will help her shine.

Cooper is a 2–4 year old, 60-pound Pittie mix who is equal parts goofy, lovable, and adorable. He LOVES his people and thinks being around humans is pretty much the best thing ever.

Cooper has just one big request when it comes to his forever home: he wants to be your one and only dog.

If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, people-loving best friend who will happily have you all to himself, Cooper may be your guy!

Cooper is ready to find the person who will say, “Yep, you’re my dog.” And he promises to return the favor with a lifetime of love, goofy smiles, and plenty of tail wags.

The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). Let's talk dog training.

This is Dusty's after picture. He's hanging out at our trainer's facility, enjoying the quiet and all the smells. But this isn't how he started.

Most of us hear the words dog training and immediately think of sit, stay, and roll over. That's only a fraction of what dog training really is.

Just like people, dogs can experience trauma. Almost every dog who has gone through the rescue process has experienced it in some form. Some dogs handle the stress and learn to adjust. Others turn that into fear, uncertainty, and insecurity. What a trainer has to do is communicate to these dogs, in a language they understand, that they will be okay.

It's not a broken leg or heartworms, but it's just as important.

Another chapter of 15 Years, 15 Stories, our North Texas Giving Day series looking back at the dogs and moments that shaped who we are.

Meet Magpie, though these days her family calls her Nelly. She arrived at the shelter with a broken pelvis and tested positive for parvo. We didn't know yet whether she'd need surgery when we agreed to take her into our rescue, we just knew she needed help.

Magpie beat parvo, and thankfully, never needed that surgery after all. She healed up during weeks of strict crate rest in her foster home before finally getting the all-clear.

Now known as Nelly, she's the happiest little dog in her new home, cuddly, always the first one up (officially her mom's 5:30 a.m. alarm clock), and a devoted foodie who shows up any time someone's in the kitchen. She starts her mornings with walks alongside her new big sister Polly, chasing rabbits around the neighborhood, and still gets the cutest zoomies when they get home.

Her family says it best: they're so grateful to have Nelly as the newest addition, and so are we, that she found exactly where she belongs.
