Denver Basic Income Project

Our film, Unconditional: Stories from the Denver Basic Income Project, will be screening at this year's Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN) Congress Conference in Toronto, Canada! If you're attending be sure to check out the film on Saturday, August 22nd 2026, where DBIP Project Manager and film director, Gwen Battis, will be screening it and discussing the creation process.

The Basic Income Earth Network is a network of academics and activists interested in the idea of basic income. It serves as a link between individuals and groups committed to or interested in basic income, and fosters informed discussion on this topic throughout the world.

On August 1st, DBIP was proud to partner with Longer Tables for the Mile Long Table at the National Western Center celebrating Colorado's 150th birthday!

Several members of our DBIP community came out to join us with thousands of other Coloradans at the table to share stories and join in the kind of hospitality that has made Colorado special since its origins. We hope to see more of our community at more events like this in the future!

On July 25th, nine DBIP participants came together for a morning of leadership, connection, and imagining what comes next.

This gathering, funded by The Denver Foundation's Strengthening Neighborhoods grant, was built around a belief that sits at the heart of our work. The people who have lived through a system understand best how to lead change within it. Over the course of the day, participants named their own strengths, wrestled with what community governance really looks like, practiced facilitation, and wrote commitments into a leadership handbook they now carry forward.

We came together to reimagine leadership rooted in community, committed to liberation, and grounded in trust. And this is only the beginning.
