For those of us who lived through September 11, 2001, it is almost impossible to believe that a quarter of a century has passed.

And yet, many of us can still remember exactly where we were when we heard the news.

We remember watching the television in disbelief. We remember calling our families. We remember parents rushing to get their children. We remember wondering what was happening to our country—and what might happen next.

We remember the fear. But we also remember what happened afterward.

America came together.

On this 25th anniversary of September 11, perhaps that is something our country needs to remember almost as much as the tragedy itself.

On behalf of .org, we will be closed today, and online orders will pause as we take this day to honor and remember the lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001.

Our prayers are with the families, friends, first responders, and everyone whose life was forever changed that day.

I will never forget the fear and uncertainty of that morning. I remember rushing to get to my children and bring them safely home because none of us knew what was coming next. Like so many Americans, that feeling—and that day—will stay with me forever.

Today, I hope we can put aside our differences for a moment and remember how precious life and freedom truly are.

Please stop today, say a prayer, remember those we lost, and honor the heroes who ran toward danger to help others.
