Day 64 down. 🔥
Current commitments:
Simple & Sinister — 5x/week
Food logging — daily
Back to the grind — lots of energy today.
Workout:
20 min EMOM
Sets of 5 @ 32kg
Then:
6 TGUs L/R (12 total)
Also: Day 6 without ni****ne.

I was hungry all day yesterday. I decided to go to bed hungry instead of eating more calories… and then I didn’t sleep as well. So I’m probably going to experiment with adding in more carbs, because carb need can go up during withdrawal.

Still dealing with some restless-leg feelings, so I added a little floor routine:
Kneeling halos
Loaded beast to kick-through
Shrimp bridges
Overhook sit-ups

It was honestly fun to do some grappling-style floor work, and it felt good to move around.

And nerdy win: near/far jumps + pencil pushups have been helping with some of the discomfort too 🤓

Day 63 down. 🔥
Current commitments:
Simple & Sinister — 5x/week
Food logging — daily

Still dealing with some ni****ne withdrawal… but yesterday was easier than the day before.

Most of the swelling in my mouth has gone down, so I was able to eat solid food again 🎉
And yeah… I may have let myself splurge a little 😏

Workout:
20 min EMOM
32kg

No get-ups today — I’m still feeling a little off from the withdrawal, so I’m pausing TGUs until my coordination feels solid again.

DM me “PROOF” if you want in.

Day 62 down. 🔥
Current commitments:
Simple & Sinister — 5x/week
Food logging — daily

Still going through ni****ne withdrawal… but yesterday I got a few random bursts of energy, so I took advantage of them.

I spent about 2 hours cleaning the house, then got my training in.

Workout:
20 min EMOM
32kg
Then:
1 TGU

I only did one get-up because I felt uncoordinated and not very stable.

I’ll get back to them again today — and if I need to, I’ll drop down to 16kg while my brain is readjusting. Form first.

Nutrition note:
Keeping carbs high and fat low has been feeling pretty natural these days, which I’m excited about 💪🏼

Day 61 down. 🔥
Current commitments:

Simple & Sinister — 5x/week
Food logging — daily

This is a vulnerable post because while I work my ass off on my health, I am still human. A lot of people may not know this, but throughout my sobriety I have started and stopped smoking multiple times.

When my brother died in 2016, I picked up smoking again until 2018. Then I switched to va**ng, and in 2020 I switched to 2mg ni****ne gum… and I’ve been chewing it ever since.

And like any bad habit, ni****ne is one of the harder ones to break because it’s not a “once a day” thing — it’s something you do throughout the day.

This dental emergency changed the game.
The last few days I could only do protein shakes and liquids, and I had to stop the gum too because it kept exacerbating the pain on the right side of my mouth. 😒

What I didn’t think through: I basically threw myself into ni****ne withdrawal… and it’s been awful.🫠

Skin and scalp hurt
Splitting headaches for 3 days
Sleep was wrecked
Restless legs day and night

But… I’m on Day 4 ni****ne-free 😅
It wasn’t originally in the cards, but I’m taking it as a sign it was time to let that vice go too.

No workout yesterday because of the headaches, but I’m looking forward to getting back on track moving forward.

Day 60 down. 🔥
Current commitments:
Simple & Sinister — 5x/week
Food logging — daily

This morning I was feeling down and out because I only got 3 workouts in this week with the dental emergency.
Part of me didn’t even want to do measurements… but I said I would do them weekly, and that matters more to me than trying to save face when I have an off week.

This is what human looks like.

And after I did my measurements… I was honestly a little shocked.

What’s shocked me the most is I’ve regularly eaten 2600–3100 calories/day — not because I was aiming for a number, but because I was hungry.

Tracking my food has given me a way better snapshot of what’s happening along the way, and I’ve naturally been eating:
60%+ carbs

Day 59 down. 🔥
Current commitments:
Simple & Sinister — 5x/week
Food logging — daily

Yesterday was not a “push through it” day.
I had a tooth infection that was extremely painful and required antibiotics. I spent most of the day resting and getting in mostly protein shakes.

Looks like I’ll be taking a couple of unplanned days off this week so I can actually heal.

This is part of training too: knowing when the job is recovery, not grit.

Day 58 down. 🔥
Current commitments:
Simple & Sinister — 5x/week
Food logging — daily

Yesterday’s workout felt strong… even though I was dealing with pain and swelling in my mouth. :/
I ended up not sleeping much because of the tooth pain — but that’s life. And I’m proud I still got the work in anyway.

Workout:
20 min EMOM
2-handed swings — sets of 5 @ 32kg
Then:
TGUs — 3 sets of 2 L/R (12 total)
The 12 get-ups felt really good.

And yes: food logging ✅

This is the point of the Daily Proof Challenge — not perfect conditions. Proof that you can keep the agreement even when you’re uncomfortable.

Day 57 down. 🔥
Current commitments:
Simple & Sinister — 5x/week
Food logging — daily

Yesterday got away from me.

I started the morning helping my wife clean up construction stuff, went straight to work, came home and our new bed was delivered (getting it upstairs took some serious maneuvering), then I had an HOA meeting.

By the time all was said and done I was tired, cranky, and I definitely did NOT want to work out.

The justifications started immediately. My brain was giving me a whole TED Talk on why it was totally fine to wait until tomorrow.

But I chose to just get it done.
I didn’t go hard. I went consistent.

Workout:
10 min EMOM
20kg — sets of 10 alternating swings

No get-ups today. And honestly? That was a good compromise.

Day 56 down. 🔥
Current commitments:
Simple & Sinister — 5x/week
Food logging — daily

Yesterday was “rest day” #2… but let’s be honest, it
wasn’t a rest day.

We had to finish up the bedroom project, so I ended up:
Sanding the closet frame for about 1 hour
Painting for about 2 hours

So yeah — no kettlebells, but plenty of work.
Good news: after today, things should be going back to normal.

Food/logging notes:
I was pretty hungry throughout the day, so calories were higher — but I’m still aiming for 60%+ of calories from carbs, 100–125g protein, and ideally low fat.
This is real life consistency: adjust the training, keep the standards.

Day 55 down. 🔥
Rest day today.💪
I was feeling a little beat up, so I chose recovery on purpose — and it felt really good to let my body catch up.

This is part of the process: push when it’s time to push, recover when it’s time to recover… and keep the long game in mind.

I also notice that my fat grams were higher than I prefer and my protein was lower. My wife and I have hopefully one more week working on the bedroom project so I am looking forward to getting a little more organized and doing better meal prep next time. I’m considering freezing whole meals so in the future if something like this happens again I can just throw something in the crock pot or oven. 🤔
