If a storm just rolled through your neighborhood, this is your sign.

Don't wait.

I know it's easy to look at your roof from the driveway, see nothing obvious, and just move on with your day.

But that's exactly how small damage turns into a big problem.

Hail damage doesn't announce itself.

It's not dramatic.

It's small soft spots on your shingles.

Granules washing into your gutters.

A flashing gap that wasn't there before.

None of it shows up on your ceiling for another year.

By then it's always bigger than it needed to be.

The homeowners who call me right after a storm are always in a better position than the ones who wait.

Documentation is fresh.

Damage is clear.

Options are open.

So if a storm came through your area recently and you haven't had anyone look at it yet, this is me telling you it's worth a phone call.

I'll come out, get up there, and tell you exactly what I find.

If everything looks good I'll tell you that too.

Honest. Always.

Take photos of your roof and gutters on a clear day.

That baseline is the best proof you can hand an adjuster later.

Nobody does this and everybody should.

Pick a nice afternoon. Stand in your yard.

Take wide shots of every side of the house, then closer shots of the gutters, the vents and the AC unit.

Save them in an album with the date.

That is it. Ten minutes.

Now when a storm rolls through Parker or Golden or wherever you are, you have before and after.

You are not arguing about whether that dent was already there.

You have proof it was not.

I have watched this one habit change how an entire claim went.

People ask me all the time why I love what I do so much.

Honestly it goes back way further than roofing.

I grew up splitting time between Denver and Peru.

And in Peru my family had a business.

Watching them work, watching them show up for their community, watching them build something with their own hands and their own integrity.

That's where it started for me.

Entrepreneurship wasn't a concept I learned in a classroom.

It was just life.

It was Sunday dinners and early mornings and doing things right because your name is on it.

And then there's Denver.

I've been here since it was small.

I watched this city grow into something incredible and I grew right along with it.

This is my home.

The mountains. The people. The energy of a city that just keeps building.

It makes sense that I ended up in construction honestly. 😂

Everything I do at BossLady Contracting comes from that place.

Show up.

Do the work.

Take care of people like they're family.

Honesty, integrity, and good old-fashion hard work.

That's not just a tagline.

That's how I was raised.

Before you call anyone, walk your yard.

Dented gutters, cracked skylights and shredded screens are your first clues.

You do not need a ladder and you definitely do not need to get on the roof.

Just do a lap around the house and look at what is at eye level.

Things worth noticing:

Granules piled at the bottom of downspouts, like coarse black sand
Dents in the gutter face or the downspout elbows
Splits or spider cracks in a skylight
Window screens with tears or dimples
Paint chipped off the deck rail or fence on the storm side

If you are finding two or three of these in Littleton or anywhere along the front range, the roof almost certainly took the same beating.

Then call someone. Preferably someone who lives here.

Three tab was doing its job but this Centennial home deserved better.

We just finished swapping it out for dimensional shingles and honestly the difference is night and day. More texture, more depth, way better protection against everything Colorado throws at a roof.

The homeowner didn't pay a dime out of pocket. Sometimes things just work out exactly the way they should.

This is my favorite kind of job. Client gets a better roof than they had before and walks away feeling taken care of.

If your roof is still running on three tab and you've had any storm activity recently, it might be worth a conversation. You could be closer to an upgrade than you think.

Soft metal tells the truth. Check your gutters, downspouts and vents.

If they are dented, your shingles took a hit too.

This is the single easiest check a homeowner can do and almost nobody knows it.

Hail cannot be selective.

It does not dent your gutters in Aurora and politely skip the roof three feet above them.

Soft metal just shows the damage immediately because aluminum dents and shingles do not.

So walk the perimeter of your house and look at:

Gutters and downspouts
Roof vents and turtle vents
Furnace and dryer vent caps
Window screens and wraps
The AC unit fins

Dings in any of those mean the storm had enough energy to hurt your roof.

Save this one. It will save somebody a lot of money.

On a job site in Denver today and wanted to show you something most homeowners never see.

This goes on before anything else.

Ice and water barrier. Moisture barrier. Window wrap.

Right on top of the plywood. Before the shingles. Before the siding. Before any of it.

This is what actually protects your home from the inside out.

Here's why it matters.

Windows leak sometimes. Even good ones. Especially in Colorado weather.

This barrier is what stands between that moisture and your substrate.

Without it water gets in and just sits there.

Behind your walls.

In your decking.

Slowly doing damage nobody sees until it's a really expensive problem.

With it you've got a layer of protection that gives your whole exterior system a fighting chance.

We put this on every single job.

No exceptions.

Not every contractor does. Ask yours if you're not sure.

If you want someone who does it right from the start, you know where to find me.
