Meet Pachuco, a very handsome, sweet young man who is a true family boy! There is nothing he loves more than his people, and nothing makes him happier than snuggles, playtime, and a backyard to zoom around and sunbathe in!

Pachuco has never met a treat he doesn’t like, and he has had a successful track record living with kids and other pets. However, he can get a little shy around unfamiliar people or settings, so having a bit of patience and of course some yummy treats will help him understand he's safe and able to relax and be himself 🥰

We think he would do well with other pets in the home and recommend kiddos aged 10 or older who understand how to respect his space when needed. Pachuco is a sweet, beautiful soul longing to love and be loved. Stop by our Leslie A. Malone Center in Denver to visit with this cutie and see if he's the pup you've been looking for!

We have an extra Happy Tale to send you off into the weekend! Earlier this month, while exploring the beautiful mountains we all love, Brandy found herself separated from owner Greg at 12,000 ft. Over the course of 4 days and around 40 miles of ground coverage, Greg began to think he would never see his sweet girl again.

A community member in Alamosa found Brandy roaming Alamosa Canyon, about 40 miles west of Alamosa in the San Juan Mountains, and attempted to contact Greg. Meanwhile, Greg was frantically searching for Brandy near Elwood Pass where she first went missing, and without cell service was unable to receive the calls. The community member brought Brandy to our San Luis Valley location, where we discovered she was microchipped. We continued to attempt to contact Greg and when he finally hit a spot of cell service, a flood of alerts saying Brandy had been found came through!

Greg rushed to our shelter, 2 hours away from where she was initially lost(!!) and was more than relieved to see Brandy again. The sweetest type of reunion if we do say so ourselves 🥹

We are incredibly grateful these two were reunited thanks to the help of our amazing community and Brandy having a microchip! Microchips help us reunite so many lost pets with their families every year and we cannot emphasize enough how important they are. Last year alone, microchips played a part in over 2,000 pets being returned to their owners from our shelters 🤯 Always remember to update your microchip information after a move or phone number change, and if you pet isn't microchipped yet, bring them to one of our amazing community veterinary clinics to get one! We promise it's worth the peace of mind 🥰

Meet Luna! This sweet gal took some time away from the shelter this week with volunteer Cam! Here's what she had to say about their day out 🥰

"I took Luna on an adventure today and she did great! She showed some initial hesitation getting into the car, but gladly jumped in with a little encouragement. She did have some anxiety on the car ride to wash park, and whined throughout the ride, so car rides will be a work in progress. Once we made it to the park and she was thrilled!

We ran into a friend of mine and she was eager to say a quick hello. Not too much time for pets though, as she was on a mission to get moving 😂We walked four times around the little lake in Wash park, and gave her several breaks. She did not slow down at all! Luna attempted to sniff and greet every person and dog she saw with a wagging tail and successfully met several people.

When someone showed more than a brief interest though, she walked away 😂 I think it takes her a little while to warm up to new people, but she was consistently as sweet as can be! Luna even had a great meeting with a tiny dog who she approached slowly, with a soft wagging tail and a big smile, and politely sniffed them before quickly moving on.

Luna prioritized sniffing over everything else. She refused to take treats the entire trip, so we skipped the pup cup. When going back, she jumped into the car no ease and showed significantly less anxiety during the ride. Luna is going to make someone very happy!"

We are so grateful for the Orphan Kitten Club, who covered the medical expenses of Sq**rt. Sq**rt came to us as a stray with severe trauma to her left hind leg, ultimately requiring amputation. Thank you Orphan Kitten Club for all you do to support care for kittens like Sq**rt!
