Start by keeping one promise to yourself.

2. Eat + drink some water.
Taking care of yourself is recovery too.

3. Check in with someone.
Sponsor. Friend. Peer. Family. Your recovery community.

4. Move your body for 10 minutes.
Walk. Stretch. Lift. Just move.

5. Decide how you’re staying connected TODAY.
Meeting. Therapy. Community. Phone call. Whatever support looks like for you.

Sometimes ‘one day at a time’ literally means figuring out what the hell you’re going to do for the next few hours. Recovery isn’t always a huge breakthrough; sometimes it’s changing environments, finding safe people and filling the empty hours with something that moves life forward.

That’s one reason community, structure and prosocial activities matter so much at Foundations. We’re not only removing substances, we’re teaching how to actually live without them.

Add ONE sober activity to the comments. 👇 Let’s build a list someone can come back to when they’re struggling ❤️‍🩹

Early recovery isn’t necessarily a constant inspirational transformation. Sometimes it looks like going to work, paying bills, keeping appointments, making dinner, going to bed and doing it again tomorrow. Those ordinary routines can be part of rebuilding stability.

That’s part of why structure matters. Recovery isn’t only learning how not to use, it’s learning how to live when life gets quiet.

For those further along in recovery: what’s something you once thought was ‘boring’ that you appreciate now? 👇🏼👇🏼

Showing up for recovery means showing up for the community. ❤️‍🩹

This weekend, the Foundations team had the opportunity to connect with some incredible people, organizations, and resources within the recovery community.

For us, this work goes far beyond the walls of our homes.

It’s about building connections. Sharing resources. Creating opportunities. Supporting the people doing this work alongside us. And making sure that when someone is ready for help, they know they don’t have to figure out the next step alone.

We’re proud to stand alongside a community that believes in second chances, rebuilding lives, and reminding people that recovery is possible.

Grateful to be here. Even more grateful to serve. 🤍

Recovery milestones aren’t always 30, 60 or 90 days. Sometimes they’re realizing you handled a situation completely differently than the old you would have. You made the phone call. You told the truth. You paid the bill. You asked for help. You walked away instead of blowing everything up. Those moments count, too. 💚

There was a time when a quiet Friday night would’ve sounded boring. In recovery, you start realizing how good it feels to wake up Saturday morning knowing where you were, what you did, how you got home, and that you actually get to enjoy the entire weekend. ❤️‍🩹 If your Friday nights look different in recovery, what do they look like now?

Getting sober doesn’t mean your life is over.

For so many people, it’s when life finally starts again. ❤️‍🩹

Your relationships. Your goals. Your independence. Your passions. Your mornings you actually remember. Your ability to make plans and follow through with them.

At Foundations, we’ve had the privilege of watching people rebuild lives they once didn’t think were possible.

And we’ll never stop being proud of them.

If sobriety gave you something back, tell us what it was below. 👇

Someone who is struggling might need to read your answer today.

Some of the greatest moments at Foundations are watching someone walk through our doors unsure of what their future looks like… and getting to watch them build a life they once didn’t think was possible. ❤️‍🩹

Recovery isn’t something anyone can force you into. We can provide the structure, resources, accountability, community, and support. But at some point, you have to decide that you want something different for yourself.

To every person who has come through Foundations and fought for that life: we are incredibly proud of you.

And to the person who keeps trying but hasn’t gotten there yet—we see you, too.

We are honored to serve this community and grateful to be even a small part of so many recovery stories.

When you’re ready, we’re here. 🤍

&& if you have made it this far, thank you. Feel free to share with a friend, you never know who needs to hear it…
