CVC exists to bridge the gap between the streets and stable housing by creating and operating transformational shelter communities in partnership with people coming from homelessness.
At CVC, we work with people experiencing homelessness to meet their short and long term goals.
Whether someone wants help prepping for a job interview or has an idea to bring the micro-community closer together, we’re literally around 24/7 to help.
At our tiny home villages, community members have their own space to feel secure in. With that sense of security and independence, people can focus on their goals, whether that’s housing, work, education, or whatever matters most to them.
And along the way, they build real connections with the people around them. This makes a huge difference in being able to reach those goals.
We work with our community members to understand their unique experiences and build support around the goals they set for themselves.
There’s more than one way to experience homelessness, so there needs to be more than one way to find long term stability.
The most important thing is to be yourself.
What we try to do is provide support through the daily challenges someone might face so that they can focus on setting goals and find long-term stability.
It’s hard to work towards the future you want when you’re just trying to get through the day.
We try to change that by providing people experiencing homelessness a private place to sleep, warm meals, and support navigating systems that feel impossible to get through alone.
Finding and applying for an apartment is hard. So is going back to school. And have you ever tried to replace a lost social security card?
We provide the shelter, stability, and support for people experiencing homelessness while they work through these barriers. Together, we build a plan for long-term stability so they can be successful in whatever comes next.
Finding stability can’t happen without having a sense of freedom and autonomy. Whether it’s housing, work, or recovery, community members lead the way to achieving their goals. And so far, it’s been a successful way for someone to go from the streets to stability.
It sounds simple, but taking the time to see someone as a human being can change their life. For people experiencing homelessness, that recognition might not come easily because of the assumptions people place on them.
That’s why we meet people where they are with support services, and we try to see people in their entirety when thinking about their current situation, their goals, and their path to stable housing. For us, it all starts with human connection and an acknowledgement of a person's humanity.
To show up for your community, you must first show up for yourself. Wise words from a community member at Monroe Micro-Community.

Things are moving and grooving at Monroe. Decks and stairs to the units came down, ramps disassembled, awnings removed, and old concrete tiny home unit bases recycled.
A lot goes into moving a tiny home village and we couldn’t do it without the support of our community.
