Spokane fires, Washington. Not contained. Our US team is opening free access to our Wildfire Solution platform for anyone supporting the response.
Three fires, Autumn Lane, Old Trails, and Fairview, broke out over the weekend of August 1–3, 2026, together burning an estimated 3,200 hectares and forcing tens of thousands of residents to evacuate.
Hundreds of homes and other structures have been lost. Washington's governor has declared a state of emergency and mobilized the National Guard as containment efforts continue.
Our satellite imagery shows the extent of the fires as they moved through the region, right up to the edge of the city of Spokane.

This is the heart of Europe's fire season. Greece is in the spotlight now, and we're closely following the updates from the ground.
Right now, our global constellation of wildfire satellites (OTC-P1) is keeping watch over Greek territory, day and night, delivering detections regularly. Here's a look at the past few weeks over Greece.
That data is already reaching firefighters on the ground this fire season, even as we finalize the Hellenic Fire System, Greece's own national constellation, launched this past May.
This is part of what we can do to support next to the work of the firefighters and emergency crews on the ground: ensure persistent coverage from above and fast downlinking to the real heroes down there.
Wildfire season escalates fast.
Only a couple of weeks ago, two wildfires broke out in the Fontainebleau forest, just 60km from Paris.
The two fires, a day apart, burned through 2,200 hectares, about 10% of the forest and forced nearly 1,000 people to evacuate.
Since then, wildfire activity across France has only grown, escalating into a national crisis: the country's worst wildfire season since 1949.
Wildfire risk in Europe is no longer tied to one region or one season. Knowing how a fire behaves in real time is becoming just as important as knowing where it is.

Our thoughts are in Spain.
We stand with everyone affected and with the firefighters and emergency services working tirelessly to protect people, communities and forests.
Long before fire season reached its peak, we supported these teams with technical training for the people who use our platform, helping them prepare for increasingly challenging wildfire seasons.
That's why our team spent a few days with the wildfire teams of Castilla y León province back in june, delivering four operational training sessions and exchanging ideas on current challenges.
A training isn't just us teaching. It's hands-on: real workflows, live scenarios, a shared Fire Spread simulation, and direct conversations with the people who use Wildfire Solution every day about what works and what could work better.
We're here to support the affected areas in any way we can.
Smoke from Ontario’s wildfires has pushed air quality to hazardous levels across Canada and the northern US. A yearly reminder of how far this crisis now travels.
What’s behind it? Canada has nearly 800 wildfires burning right now, one of its most active seasons yet.
One of the biggest is Thunder Bay 36. Burning since July 12, it is now Ontario’s largest fire on record at over 318,000 hectares and still not under control. The fire already forced people from their homes across the region, including Armstrong, Whitesand First Nation and Collins First Nation.
The bigger the fire, the farther the smoke travels. What used to be a local risk is now a shared one, felt hundreds of kilometers away.
Wildfire consequences don’t have borders. The air we breathe, the homes we lose, the fires we fight: none of it stays in one place.
Every mission begins long before launch.
HFS is part of OroraTech’s mission to detect and monitor wildfires from space, using thermal satellite data to deliver faster, more precise insights when every minute matters.

Now, we’re getting ready for what comes next!
📆 On October 12–13, we’ll meet in Miesbach, near Munich, surrounded by the Bavarian mountains, for an exclusive retreat dedicated to the future of wildfire intelligence.
This year, we’ll build on our core focus on wildfire management while opening the conversation to Earth observation, thermal monitoring use cases, emergency response, and resilience, with interactive sessions, new perspectives, and a few surprises along the way.
As always, the conference is a private, application-based event with limited attendance.

First light was just the beginning.
After sharing the first images from our collaboration, we’re taking a closer look at what they already prove for wildfire detection.
The scene shows Lake Francis Case, behind the Fort Randall Dam on the Missouri River, on the border of South Dakota and Nebraska. In the MWIR image, our sensor detected a small fire that other LEO satellites missed, demonstrating how thermal data from space can reveal events that are otherwise easy to overlook.
What makes this first image exceptional?
✅ There were plenty of LEO satellites in the fire’s timeframe. None of them detected it.
✅ We captured the fire during the afternoon gap! It started at around 17:00 local time.
✅ The fire was small and only lasted a short time, yet our sensors captured it anyway.
As our co-founder and CEO Mina Mitry discussed with in Colorado Springs, live thermal detection and rapid communications infrastructure should work together to make Earth observation a truly strategic capability.
This is not just about achieving first light. It is about proving the value of the infrastructure we are building.

The Hellenic Fire System (HFS) has launched, and we have already established contact with the satellites!
We were honored to mark this milestone at our Athens headquarters with the visit of Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, alongside Greece’s Minister of Digital Governance, .
🛰️ With this mission, Greece becomes the first country in the world with a national, satellite-based wildfire system. No other country currently has a national and operational wildfire satellite constellation in place.
This is a powerful example of what sovereign space infrastructure can look like in practice: a dedicated national capability for live thermal monitoring of the Earth, built for fast, operational decision-making.
