The Colorado Cup is an opportunity for Colorado’s 50,000 tennis players to celebrate our sport though competition and recognition of outstanding performances. As a tour in Colorado for tennis players, the Cup will focus on developing an outstanding atmosphere on and off the court for everyone in attendance. Players will be encouraged to participate in the Colorado Cup Tennis Challenge — a year-lon
g tournament competition that includes up to 11 tennis tournaments around the State with their best 6 results counting towards the Cup. Ladies Singles 3.0 to 4.0 Doubles 3.0 to 4.5 along with Mens singles 3.5 to 5.0 and doubles 3.5 to 4.5 categories with the most points will be the winner. In addition, all Colorado players will be invited to vote on the end-of-year Colorado Cup Players Choice Awards for excellence and sportsmanship in a variety of singles, doubles and team categories. Plans include tournaments from around the state of Colorado that occur between April and October. The Colorado Cup Players Choice Awards will take place online: nominations will be open from June to September; and voting will be open in October and November. The Colorado Cup and Players Choice winners will be recognized at a year-end event. Who can compete? The Colorado Cup is open to all tennis players. A simple and free online profile on the Colorado Cup web site allows us to keep track of the Colorado Cup Tennis Challenge points and facilitates players Colorado Cup Players Choice Awards nominations and voting. The Colorado Cup Tennis Challenge 10-tournament calendar will include sanctioned USTA events. Players will need to be registered with the USTA. Participating in The Colorado Cup Players Choice Awards is free. What makes the Colorado Cup different? The Colorado Cup events will attract larger draws of top players, will encourage players to travel to new tournaments, and will give players a chance to win a very prestigious title. Most importantly, the events will focus on energizing players and developing an outstanding atmosphere on and off the court for everyone in attendance.
