CoCEAL is a coalition of post-secondary and professional educators devoted to the educational success of the state’s Latino/Hispanic population. The group grew out of a larger, statewide Hispanic Association of College and University group that began to meet in earnest in July of 2008. The intent of the group is to build a sustainable coalition of professional educators at the post-secondary level who will actively participate in the state-level and national post-secondary education agenda with a targeted and particular focus on success for the Latino/Hispanic residents of the state of Colorado.

We got it on the ballot… Now go vote!!!!
It’s official… Income Tax Fairness is on the ballot!
Colorado's tax system is broken. A nurse or teacher making $50,000 a year pays the same income tax rate as a millionaire or a giant corporation.
Initiative 195 changes that. A YES vote means that:
97% of Colorado taxpayers get a tax cut, including small businesses, seniors and veterans. No household making under $500,000 a year pays a penny more.
Increases taxes only on the wealthiest 3 percent of individuals and largest 5 percent of corporations making more than $500,000 annually
You continue receiving your TABOR refund check just as you always have.
Initiative 195 raises more than $2 billion strictly for K-12 education, healthcare, and childcare by asking the wealthiest Coloradans and largest corporations to finally pay their fair share.
👉 But don’t take our word for it – look up your income on the table printed right on your ballot and see for yourself (or go to our website below).
It’s time to fix our broken tax system: Let’s give 97% of Coloradans a tax cut, and make millionaires and giant corporations finally pay their share.

Today is Women’s Equality Day, commemorating the certification of the 19th Amendment on August 26, 1920, which prohibited denying the right to vote on the basis of s*x.
The amendment was a landmark achievement in the long struggle for women’s political equality, but it did not guarantee equal access to the ballot for all women. Mexican American women and other women of color continued to confront poll taxes, discriminatory registration practices, language barriers, intimidation, and other obstacles to exercising their right to vote.
Mexican American women nevertheless organized, educated voters, challenged discrimination, and built institutions to strengthen their communities and expand political participation. Women including MarĂa Rebecca Latigo de Hernández, Jovita Idar, and Emma Tenayuca remind us that the struggle for women’s equality has always been intertwined with broader movements for civil, labor, educational, and voting rights.
Led by Congresswoman Bella Abzug, Congress established Women’s Equality Day in 1971 not only to commemorate women’s suffrage, but also to recognize women’s continuing efforts toward full equality.
Today, we honor those who fought to expand our democracy, and recognize that equality is not simply a milestone of the past, but work that continues in every generation.
