Today, we celebrate 250 years of American independence, the freedoms that bring us together, and the communities that make us feel at home. Whether you're spending the day with family, friends, neighbors, or simply enjoying the Colorado sunshine, we hope your Fourth of July is filled with laughter, great memories, and a little sparkle. ✨

Today, we honor Juneteenth, a day commemorating freedom, resilience, and the continued pursuit of equality. Across Colorado, communities are gathering to celebrate Black history, culture, and achievement. In Denver, the historic Five Points neighborhood will host the annual Juneteenth Music Festival, featuring a parade, live music, local vendors, food, art, and family-friendly activities.

As we celebrate this important day, we reflect on the contributions, strength, and rich cultural heritage of Black Americans while continuing to build connected communities where everyone feels welcomed and valued.

June is a time to celebrate love, authenticity, inclusion, and the incredible LGBTQ+ community that helps make Denver so vibrant. We are proud to Build Connected Communities which support spaces where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and at home.

This month, Denver is filled with opportunities to celebrate Pride, including:
✨ Denver PrideFest + Denver Pride Parade hosted by Denver Pride – June 28 on 16th Street
✨ Pride 5K – June 27
✨ Black Pride Colorado Week hosted by Black Pride Colorado - June 11-14
✨ Community events, live performances, local vendors, and celebrations happening all month long

Whether you’re attending a parade, supporting local LGBTQ+ businesses, or simply spreading kindness and acceptance, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating Pride all month long.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. As we spend time with loved ones, we pause to reflect on the sacrifice of our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward.

Featured here is the Colorado Tribute to Veterans Monument outside the Colorado State Capitol in Denver, a powerful reminder of the courage woven into our nation’s history.

If you’re in Colorado this morning, look to the skies for Memorial Day aerial tributes from the Colorado Air National Guard. Plus it’s also a meaningful day to explore the beauty of our country, with free admission today to all U.S. National Parks, including Rocky Mountain National Park, Great Sand Dunes National Park, and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

To our residents who have served, supported someone who has, or continue honoring the memory of those lost, thank you.

This February marks a powerful milestone - 100 years of Black History Month, rooted in the vision of historian Dr. Carter G. Woodson to ensure Black history and contributions are recognized, taught, and celebrated. A century later, that mission continues.

Black History Month is a time to honor resilience, celebrate culture, and reflect on the countless contributions Black leaders, artists, innovators, and communities have made - and continue to make - to our shared history. It’s also an opportunity to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful conversations that move us forward together.

📍 Right here in Colorado, there are incredible ways to participate and learn this month, including:
-Live jazz and cultural programming in Denver’s historic Five Points
-Educational talks and performances through Colorado Humanities’ Black History Live
-Community celebrations, film screenings, and art exhibits across Denver, Aurora, Boulder, and Colorado Springs
-A visit to the Black American West Museum, highlighting Black pioneers of the American West
