🚨 Scam Alert!

There has been an increase in recent reports of bail scams targeting victims of domestic violence. Scammers are using information from public court records to identify and contact victims shortly after their abuser has been incarcerated.

Callers may claim that money is needed to post bail, often creating a false sense of urgency by saying payment must be made within a certain amount of time. They may then ask victims to transfer money over the phone, through an ATM, or using cryptocurrency.

The exploitation of people during an already vulnerable and emotionally difficult time is completely unacceptable. Here at Project PAVE, we believe protecting and empowering victims means helping our community recognize the warning signs and know where to turn for help.

Remember: Courts will NEVER call you requesting payment or ask you to make a bond payment over the phone.

If you believe you or a loved one has received one of these calls or fallen victim to this scam, please report it at stopfraudcolorado.gov
