Celebrating Nurses @ Colorado’s 150th

Last week, the Colorado Nurses Association (CNA) joined the Colorado Council of Black Nurses (CCBN) and the Denver Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses at Colorado Day Community Festival. It was great to talk directly with the leaders of these other organizations but even more exciting to meet and talk with nurses (including one who just passed the NCLEX), friends and families of nurses, nurses to be, and community members who had questions for nurses or just wanted to thank us for the service nurses provide.

CNA is more than just Zoom meetings and legislation. Join us in the community.

One of CNA's Advisory and Networking Teams has posed the question of how to get nurses more engaged in surveys. This comes amidst an exploration of the potential disconnect between practicing nurses and leadership. Lack of engagement makes it difficult to gather meaningful data and identify potential solutions.

Our profession is shaped by the trailblazers who came before us. Established in 2004, the CNA Hall of Fame Award honors members whose lifelong dedication and outstanding achievements have left a permanent mark on the Colorado nursing profession.

This prestigious recognition celebrates the icons of our community, both living and deceased, whose work has fundamentally changed healthcare in our state for the better. We need more nurses to speak up when they are confronted with working environments that violate their professional and personal ethics. CNA's Advisory and Networking Teams are a great place to have those conversations.

Bringing a unique perspective to her role, Heather leverages her extensive background in nonprofit leadership and education to bridge the gap between community health initiatives and nursing practice. Currently advancing her clinical training at CU Anschutz, she channels her diverse experience into a deep commitment to systemic advocacy, ensuring that Colorado's nurses are actively involved in designing equitable health policy.
