Question: 32% of people say this is their favorite form of exercise. What is it?
Answer: Hiking!

Is hiking your favorite form of exercise? Would you call yourself a hiker? If you hike, you are a hiker. If you write, you become known as a writer. The things we consistently do are the things that make us into the people we will eventually become. The things we think about, the things we participate in, and the people we spend time with shape us.

Hebb's Law states "Neurons that fire together, wire together." Our brains, and so our behaviors, are physically shaped by what we repetitively participate in. Often, without even knowing it, we are being shaped by all the things going on around us and what we intentionally or unintentionally do.

What would it look like if we were intentional about our spiritual formation? What does that even mean? That's the subject of today's message. As we begin a new series today, pastor Jill brings a sermon called "Formed for What?"

Sunday Morning Preview from Pastor Jill:
On this rainy Friday afternoon in September, it’s starting to feel a little bit like Fall (AKA my favorite time of the year). Some of my favorite things take place in the fall: football games, leaf-peeping, pumpkin-picking, reading good books with a yummy cup of coffee. At Celebration, the Fall is also the time of celebrating our church’s birthday, joining small groups and going deeper in our relationships with God. And this Fall, we’re particularly focusing on SPIRITUAL FORMATION—how God wants to form and shape us so that we can receive more of what He has for us and become more of who He has called us to be. And it starts THIS SUNDAY! I’m prayerful and excited to embark on this formation journey with you!

Question: Sales of THIS hit a billion dollars last year, for the first time since 1983. What is it?
Answer: Vinyl records!

43 years ago! That's amazing! Some things come back around: fashion, vinyl records, and our good friend Andy Millar. While it hasn't been 43 years, it has been too long since we last got to hear from our good friend and pastor from Light of the Nations Church that meets in this building every Sunday afternoon. Today, while pastor Jill is visiting her family in Florida, we have the treat of hearing from pastor Andy and lessons he has learned about faith and formation into the likeness of Jesus. His sermon is called "The Story of My Life--How God Shaped & Formed Me."

Question: According to a recent survey, what food did 40% of respondents say was the most versatile staple for stretching their grocery budget?
Answer: Potatoes!

While potatoes may be one of the most versatile food items, when it comes to versatile things, God’s word may top the list. Scripture compares God’s word to over a dozen different things: A sword, a hammer, a fire, a light and lamp, and many more. God word applies to all people, in all places, at all times in history. As Jesus said, God’s word will never fade away. Pastor Jill brings us a message on that subject called "Engaging Scripture Together."

Question: 31% of people have a nickname for THIS. What is it?
Answer: Their guitar!

Have you ever given a nickname to an instrument or object like a car? Have you ever been given a nickname by a loved one?

There's something about sweet nicknames that express beautiful terms of endearment. They take up residence in our hearts and whether given or received, they show that someone or something is beloved and delighted in. The truth is, God calls you His child and delights in you as a parent does in their beloved kids. It's an unqualified belovedness that has nothing to do with what we do, only who we are in His eyes.

We're in for a treat, because our good friend Bekah Stewart is bringing us a message on this topic in a sermon called "The Truest Truth: We are the Beloved."
