CoPIRG, (Colorado Public Interest Research Group), is a statewide, citizen-funded advocacy group that promotes the public interest.
We serve as an advocate for consumers, advancing solutions to problems that affect health, safety and wellbeing. CoPIRG (Colorado Public Interest Group) is a consumer group that stands up to powerful interests whenever they threaten our health and safety, our financial security or our right to fully participate in our democratic society. For decades, we’ve stood up for consumers, countering the influence of big banks, insurers, chemical manufacturers and other powerful special interests.
From Bustang to VelociRFTA, Colorado and the Roaring Fork Valley have seen some great transit successes. We hosted an event to highlight the progress. We were joined by speakers from CDOT, RFTA, Aspen One, and the Mayor of Aspen Rachael Richards.
Bustang now has nearly hourly service along I-70 that connects to RFTA, which has everything from regional routes in dedicated lanes to lots of local service. The frequency is high - you don't always need to have to schedule.
Transit options reduce pollution, crashes and costs. Come up an enjoy the options.

Shoutout to Ranch View Middle School for helping us remove 81 pounds of trash from Denver’s Cherry Creek. We found a lot of plastic, which often takes hundreds of years to break down and can degrade into tiny pieces of plastic, known as microplastics, that hurt our environment and health.

The Colfax dedicated bus lanes opened today in Denver. 🚍 The lanes will make riding the Colfax bus faster and more reliable from the Capitol to Colorado blvd (with an extension coming later). How many data centers do we need? And what's the appropriate role for AI in our lives?
These are huge questions & we should take time to try to answer them. Just saying we need "more" data centers has a HUGE impact.
Data centers use water, lots of energy, impact air quality, produce noise & gobble up land. Overbuilding, especially in Colorado, could be a real mistake.

GOOD NEWS - Clean air victory! Colorado's Air Quality Control Commission voted to further reduce harmful & -forming pollution from oil & gas operations across our state. This is one of many actions we need to take to make our air safer to breathe.

Our friends at Environment Colorado (and hundreds of other groups) are working to stop a proposal to rollback protections for 45 million acres of wild forests. These areas provide critical habitat for wildlife, places to hike, camp and fish and clean water for us to drink.
We already have plenty of places to log & alternatives we could use to reduce more logging. Once these places are cut down they won't regrow for generations.
