Elections are coming up fast. We are so excited to be partnering with the Denver Clerk and Recorder office and these amazing organizations to host a nonpartisan ballot party! Join us October 15th at at 5:30pm to learn more about what will be on your ballot in November. ballot language can be very confusing, we want to make sure you know what you’re voting for or against. This event is completely nonpartisan and open to the public. Come join, eat, learn, and connect with your community!

Last week we had our Fresh Food Connect gardener potluck at the San Rafael Community Garden! It was so nice to get together, explore the garden, and eat yummy food! We definitely want to do this again next year. Big thank you to FreshFoodConnect for being such an awesome partner!

September 15th is National Voter Registration Day!

November 3rd may feel far away but it is coming up FAST. Luckily in Colorado there are so many different ways to vote. It is important to vote for your future, your community, and those who can’t.

Volunteer with DFR!

We are currently short staffed and the harvest/farmers market season is in full swing. We are busy running around town trying to make sure donations get to our No Cost Grocery Programs, with our current limited capacity it seems to be a little difficult some days 😵‍💫😵‍💫

During the week take an hour or 2 to pick up from your local grocery store! We pick up from many of your favorite farmers markets every weekend and our volunteer coordinator Max could use the Saturday help.

September is Hunger Action Month! We are hosting an outdoor screening of Food, Inc 2 with Metro Caring September 25th. Bring a friend, a blanket or chair, and be ready to learn for Hunger Action Month! There will be snacks and drinks for free and a food truck outside of Cohesion Brewing with food available to purchase. Learn about Food Insecurity and the Right to Food with Metro Caring through a fun family movie night!

We’ve got some really fun events you can hang out with DFR this weekend!

On Saturday the 29th from 9am-12pm we will be at the West Wash Park Community Garden at the corner of E 2nd Ave & N Grant Street. There will be so many goodies to buy from the awesome gardeners. 40% of the proceeds from the market will be donated to us and Fresh Food Connect. Our Food Access Manager and one of our Fresh Food Connect Youth Couriers will be there to answer any questions, hand out info, and even have some merch! 

On Sunday the 30th at 5pm we will be at the Hi-Dive for Feed American, the Jimmy Eats World Anniversary tribute with Blink 90210 and Spyderland! This super fun event will be giving the proceeds to DFR so we can continue our work. Rock out with our amazing Executive Director who will be there with info and merch. 🎸🤘

We appreciate you sharing your bounty with us despite the tough growing conditions this season. We wanted to give you a chance to connect with other Denver gardeners, celebrate the harvest season, and share something from your garden! We are hosting a Fresh Food Connect Gardener Potluck on September 16th at 5pm! San Rafael Community Garden is so amazing for allowing us into their space for this. DFR will provide drinks and utensils so please bring a labeled dish and a chair! We hope to see you there so RSVP at the link in our bio! (RSVP is required to attend)

Max Julien had an epic ride this morning from our produce wholesaler donor to Re:Vision on the new bike (almost 450lbs)‼️‼️

🥕🥬School is back in session for some of our Fresh Food Connect Youth couriers… we are sad to see them go but this means we are looking to add 2-3 more members to our team!

If you or anyone you know is between the ages of 16-21 and is looking for a fun way to earn some money, give back to the community, and get outside send them our way!! Harvest season is ramping up so we will definitely need the help picking up FreshFoodConnect donations Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays 🌽🥕
