Get ready for our next installment of:

DECODING W**E LABELS
with Mark Green
Wednesday, October 21 - 5:30PM

The fourth installment of Lucca’s monthly w**e dinners has the theme “A Study in Sangiovese.” We will focus on three different expressions of Sangiovese, the red grape used to make Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, and other famous w**es from Italy’s Tuscany region. Sangiovese is indigenous to Italy, and it is the most widely planted red grape in the country. Upon your arrival, the first w**e poured will be a Tuscan white w**e. Will the grape be Vermentino? Trebbiano Toscana? Vernaccia? Come and find out!

If you are a newcomer to Italian w**es, or if you already love them and want to taste some new releases, please join Steve Logsdon and the Lucca team for the fourth in our series of w**e dinners. We will serve one white w**e and three reds, all from the Tuscany region in Central Italy. We will discuss the labels, the grapes, and answer any questions you may have.

Reserved seating available in 2-person, 4-person, and other configurations of your choice.

$100 includes four-course dinner and four w**es.

Sapori d'Autunno 09/17/2026

Join us for Sapori d'Autunno, Flavors of Autumn, an inviting evening celebrating the season's finest Italian flavors.

This gathering brings together vibrant autumn Italian specialties, thoughtfully paired with a select w**e menu.

This gathering is more than a meal, it's an opportunity to come together as a community, celebrate Italian culinary tradition, and enjoy an evening surrounded by warmth, good food, and great company. Whether you're a longtime supporter or new to the Center, all are welcome to join in the celebration.

As a fundraising event benefiting the Italian-American Cultural Center of Iowa, your attendance directly supports the Center's mission — and a portion of your ticket price may be tax deductible.

Our friend, Mark Green, is back with another installment of his series on decoding w**e labels.

DECODING W**E LABELS with Mark Green
Thursday, September 24 - 5:30PM

Italy is home to hundreds of indigenous grape varieties. Did you know that Barolo is a red w**e made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy? Have you heard of Arneis (“little rascal”), a white Piedmont grape that was on the verge of extinction? And, do you know the Des Moines connection to a top Piedmont estate?

If you are a newcomer to Italian w**es, or if you already love them and want to taste some new releases, please join Steve Logsdon and the Lucca team for the third in our series of monthly w**e dinners. We will serve one white w**e and three reds, all from the Piedmont region in Northern Italy. We will discuss the labels, the grapes, and answer any questions you may have.

Reserved seating available in 2-person, 4-person, and other configurations of your choice.

Limited to 16 people

$100 includes four-course dinner and four w**es.

Guests at Lucca’s Bordeaux-themed w**e dinner were treated to an end-of-evening taste of 1986 Chateau Talbot, a legendary w**e from a classic vintage.

Decoding W**e Labels with Mark Green
Thursday, August 20
5:30 PM

What’s that thing the kids say? “If you know you know?” That certainly applies to w**e labels from France’s Bordeaux region. Did you know that a white w**e from Bordeaux is usually made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape? That red Bordeaux is usually made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and other grapes? The thing is, you won’t always find that information on the w**e label!

So, if you’ve been “bored o’” the w**es you’ve been drinking lately and want to discover some new bottles, please join Steve Logsdon and the Lucca team for the second in our series of w**e dinners. We will serve one white w**e and three red w**es, all from Bordeaux. We will discuss the labels, the grapes, and answer any questions you may have.

Reserved seating available in 2-person, 4-person, and other configurations of your choice.

Seating limited to 16 diners

$100 includes four-course dinner and four different w**es.

Hello! We just wanted to drop a quick reminder that we will be closed for the July 4th holiday. We apologize for any inconvenience, and look forward to seeing you soon.

06/25/2026

Have you ever noticed that the labels on some w**e bottles are hard to understand?

Are they the names of grapes? The country? The region? The w**ery? The brand? All of the above?

We have some answers!

Join Steve Logsdon and the Lucca team for an evening of w**e, food, and conversation. For this tasting event, we will be featuring one white w**e and three red w**es, most from the Rhone region of France. Our knowledgeable staff will help you decipher the labels and provide helpful information about grape varieties such as Grenache and Syrah.

Tables available in 2-seat, 4-seat, and larger configurations upon request.

Seating limited to 15 people

$100 including four-course dinner and four different w**es.

Hi Lucca Friends!

A friendly reminder, June 12-14 is Capital City Pride in the East Village. Please plan a little extra time to make it to your reservation.

We have attached a map of the street closures below. Parking is indicated by the large letter "P" on the map in a few places. We have highlighted Lucca with a bright green rectangle.

If you don't feel like fighting the crowd this week, we completely understand, and can move your reservation to another time, just give us a call.

If you are OK with a few extra people, and a longer walk, we look forward to seeing you, and hope you'll have a great time in the area!
