šŸ‘Ÿ Students at Hillis Elementary School participated in our Do The Math 247 ā€œEmpathy Shoesā€ activity.

Empathy is the ability to understand and consider another person’s feelings, thoughts, and experiences. During the activity, students practiced looking at situations from different perspectives and discussed how their words and actions can affect others.

This activity was part of the Do The Math 247 Character-Building After-School Program, offered in partnership with the B.WELL Foundation.

šŸ›”ļø Discovering What Matters Most: Our Values Shield Activity

During our Do The Math 247 Values Shield activity, elementary students at Madison Elementary School identified the values that are most important to them—such as kindness, honesty, respect, courage, responsibility, and family.

Through this hands-on activity, students explored what matters most to them, strengthened their self-awareness, and learned how their values can guide their decisions and the way they treat others.

Every shield was different—just like every student—but each one told a meaningful story.

A special thank-you to Dr. Claudia Brandie Young for the opportunity to share Do The Math 247’s Character-Building/Social Emotional Learning programming with Des Moines Public Schools leaders representing 21st Century Community Learning Centers and Metro Kids Care.

I appreciated the opportunity to highlight how our interactive, student-centered programs promote self-respect, empathy, teamwork, leadership, and positive decision-making. We look forward to continuing to support DMPS students and strengthening our community!

DO THE MATH 247 "B.U.L.L.Y." – A New Approach to Building a Kinder World ā¤ļø

Bullying can affect many schools and communities, leaving a lasting impact on those who experience it, witness it, and engage in it. At Do The Math 247, we believe in redefining the word "BULLY" in a way that fosters empathy, kindness, and self-worth.

Our B.U.L.L.Y. framework encourages students to:
• Be Understanding of Others' Thoughts and Feelings
• Lift Up Others
• Love Yourself

By teaching these principles, we empower young people to create a more inclusive and compassionate environment.
