The Pet Project

Every month The Pet Project collaborates with local pet food assistance programs to discuss successes, challenges, and ways we can share resources and supports. Because of this partnership, we received over 2,850 pounds of pet food and litter from our friends at Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

We’re down to the last few days of Kibbles for a Cause! Every donation makes a difference in the lives of local pets and their parents! 🧡

Wow! Our volunteers were busy last Saturday supporting our patrons! We distributed 1,608 pounds of pet food and accepted seven new applications for our programs. The need continues to grow as we see more and more families come through our doors each week.

Thank you to everyone who makes this work possible through volunteering, donating and spreading the word. It’s because of you that pet bowls can stay full. 🧡

It’s the final week for Kibbles for a Cause! We have teamed up with local pet food assistance organizations to host a pet food collection through the month of July. Every bag of food helps keep bowls full and pets at home with the people who love them.

"I found out about TPP when I met fellow volunteers, Tammy and Rick, at the Beautiful Bulldog Contest and I loved the mission of keeping pets with their family members. I had been looking for something to volunteer regularly at and started as a pantry volunteer in October of 2024. I'm excited to join the board, so I can deepen my involvement and continue to help make an impact!"

July is almost over, but there’s still time to support Kibbles for a Cause!

Bone-A-Patreat is proud to be a community drop-off location for this month-long pet food drive led by the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in partnership with Bailing Out Benji, DMARC, Meals on Wheels, and The Pet Project.

Every donation helps stock local pet food pantries so families facing financial hardship don’t have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pets.

If you’ve been meaning to donate, now’s the time! Stop by before the end of the month and consider picking up an extra bag of pet food to help local pets and the people who love them. Every donation counts! ❤️🐾

While we’re always grateful for any pet food donations, we’re running low on a few specialty items that many of the families we serve rely on:

🐶 Grain-free dog food
🐶 Dog food that is not chicken flavored (for pets with allergies and sensitivities)
🐱 3 lb bags of cat food

Sponsored by Fareway Stores and supported by a whole host of locally owned and franchise-owned pet stores, we are collecting donations for our coalition of pet food pantries that works together in Central Iowa to keep pets with their people and out of the local shelters!
