New research highlighted this week looked at older adults who maintained aerobic exercise over several decades. Researchers found that long-term exercisers showed greater physiological reserve as they aged—and swimming was among the aerobic activities included.

It’s another reminder that staying active isn’t only about how you feel today. Building movement into your routine can be part of staying active and independent as you get older.

And the pool can be a great place to do it.

Starting Sunday, September 27, we’re expanding our Sunday schedule at Mount Rainier Pool, giving you more opportunities to get in the water!

💦 NEW SUNDAY HOURS
🚶 Water Walking: 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
🏊 Expanded Lap Swimming: 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Swim: 1:00–3:00 p.m.

Whether you’re getting in your laps, walking your way to a great workout, or enjoying an afternoon at the pool with the family, there’s a place for you on Sundays!

We hope the expanded four-hour Lap Swim gives our swimmers more flexibility and more opportunities to make the pool part of their weekend routine.

Looking for something to do this Saturday? Whether you’re coming for family time or fitness time, there’s a place for you at Mount Rainier Pool. Everyone is welcome!

💦 Family Swim | 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
🌊 Open Swim | 1:00–2:30 p.m.

One daily admission is good for both Family Swim and Open Swim—so stay and enjoy the afternoon!

🏊‍♀️ Lap Swimming | 10:30 a.m.–12:45 p.m.

Great news for families! Our $3 Youth Swim special has been extended through December 31, 2026!

Kids and families can keep making a splash at Mount Rainier Pool with affordable admission:

🏊 $3 Youth Swim — Ages 3–17
👨‍👩‍👧 $2 Adult Swim — When swimming with your child
👶 FREE — Children under age 3

The special is available for Family Swim, Lap Swim, Open Swim, and Special Recreation Swim. Swim lessons are not included.

Whether you’re getting some exercise, practicing swimming skills, or just spending time together in the water, we hope to see you at the pool!

🌎 Making Mount Rainier Pool More Accessible to Our Whole Community

Our community speaks many languages, and we want everyone to feel welcome and have access to the information they need to enjoy Mount Rainier Pool.

That’s why we’re continuing to expand our Language Access & Translated Materials. Our new “Find Your Swim” Fall Schedule is now available in English and multiple translated versions:

Amharic • Arabic • Filipino/Tagalog • French (Canada) • Korean • Punjabi • Russian • Somali • Spanish • Ukrainian • Vietnamese

Our website and CivicRec registration portal can also be translated into many additional languages using Google Translate. And if you need help registering or finding resources, our Front Desk team is happy to assist.

We know there is still more work to do. Our current Arabic translation needs improvement, and we welcome community members who may be interested in helping us review translations and other materials.
