Detroit is pretty amazing as it is. But when you stop to admire the architecture, that's where it shines!

I had to do quite the climb to get to this spot.
I wouldn't recommend it for everyone but for those who do choose to make the attempt; sturdy, waterproofed shoes with good tread are best 🥾

Make sure you spend some time in nature this weekend!

Alpena Light

I love the boardwalk leading to the viewing area for this light. There are several educational plaques along the way talking about the shipwrecks off the coast. It's not just a gorgeous walk, it's a whole learning experience that honors the history of what has happened in the waters there.

You don't have to put a camera through a fence or sneak past any signs to get images like this through a fence. You just have to know how to work the camera you are using. Give it a try the next time you are at a zoo or animal rehab center. Without disturbing the animals by getting too close or even encroaching on their space at all, beautiful images can still be captured, even from a distance.
When visiting these animals, be respectful of the signage and rules placed by the people that care for them. This shouldn't be about getting the perfect photo but instead respecting nature and their majesty.
