Knock knock, this thing still on?
Guess who survived a summer of absolute health nonsense but is back at her lathe for the first time in *ahem* actually months. Time to make some beautiful messes!

Hey there everybody! Life has been intense around the Eagle house, and we haven't been in the workshop. But, I am definitely sticking to trying my best to buy things from other makers! We were stuck in Plymouth this weekend, so we took the opportunity to visit the Art Fair both of those days, and I got SO MUCH Christmas shopping started on! Also not pictured is all the yummy sourdough Mr Eagle found. Shop handmade when you can, artists are awesome.

Back at the museum for some creative inspiration and I was blown away by the new Fabric of America exhibit. It's so much more than I expected. Fashion, quilting, Americana, cultural significance, textiles, and more. Extremely well done.

New tool day! As part of our summer refresh and retooling, we are learning some new skills. "My" lathe is indoors and used for sanding and polishing, and I have only ever needed a mandrel on it, since I only make things that have a brass tube that runs through them. This summer I am learning how to use what is called a live center, which Mr Eagle has on "his" lathe. It opens up lots of new possibilities that I am excited to learn.
I just personally want to thank anybody that still takes the time to make their own event flyers. In a world of AI flyers that all look the same, nothing pleases me more than even a poorly Canva slapped together flyer. High five to you, seriously.

Back to work! I have all these new items to photograph and list this week. All of the handles on the thread rack will be seam rippers or crochet sets. Somebody check on me in a few days and make sure my fingers haven't fallen off.

Eagle Works summer break day 1:
Today, Mr Eagle and I had the great honor of visiting the Jackson House at The Henry Ford I have been reading Ms. Jackson's book, The House by the Side of the Road, and it was wonderful to see it all come to life in front of me. We got to visit the place where marches were planned, legislation was discussed, and the very spot with the very textiles where Dr. King sat watching President Johnson support the Voting Rights Act. It is such an important piece of our history, today more than ever. The exhibit opens to the public next month, make sure you reserve a visit!
A great weekend of sales, amazing art, cool costumes, and very fun people has come to an end. Thanks so much to Hall of Heroes for having us for Gears in Bloom! Next up for us is actually a summer break! We have a lot of workshop renovation, retooling, and we are hoping to expand our offerings. We will be actively posting items on our websites and socials, but we are not scheduled for another event until October. Please, like us, attend art and craft fairs this summer! Support your local community. Connect with your fellow humans. We're all in this thing called life together, let's make it more beautiful.
