Every other Saturday, the guys from my Cursillo weekend get together for a “4th Day” Group Reunion. It’s a simple accountability check on how we’re doing in our walk with God.
Yesterday, I admitted something out loud: I skipped Mass last weekend and did little to nothing spiritually. I was slacking.
Funny thing—once I heard myself say it, something changed. It motivated me to pick it up.
So yesterday I went to Mass, dusted off my Bible, and got back to work. This morning I woke up feeling much better about the direction I was headed.

So…how are YOU doing?
The Cursillo way of examining your week is pretty simple:
1. Closest moment to Christ this past week
2. Bible Study
3. Piety
4. Action
Are you slacking?
If the answer is “yes,” I’ve got good news: you just examined your life. That’s the first step toward getting back on track.

My son Drew died in 2013, at the very beginning of the fentanyl epidemic.
Today I saw a Truth Social post showing the death tolls from America’s recent wars under the headline:
“These are the real facts. REPORT THEM!”
It struck me that we are in another war—a drug war—and this one is being fought for our children’s lives.
So I took the advice of the post and reported the whole story.
Since 2013, approximately 1,020,000 Americans have died from drug overdoses. An estimated 500,000 of those deaths involved fentanyl. Behind those numbers are roughly one million bereaved parents whose lives will never be the same.
This war has claimed more American lives than any of the recent wars shown in that graphic.
Unlike a foreign battlefield, however, this is one war where you can personally help save lives.

From Wednesday through Monday, it’s been a nonstop stretch: the DEA National Event at Ga***rd Palms in Florida; National Angel Army Training at Westgate Resort in Orlando; filming two Healing Time television shows at Daystar in Dallas—sharing the Angel Army mission with a potential reach of 2.4 billion homes worldwide; celebrating with the Siegels at their new home near the SMU campus; and returning to Michigan to refine next year’s presentation deck with our team.
It’s been a relentless stretch—but one filled with purpose.
Are we tired?
Does the Pope wear white? Do bereaved parents wear black?!
Yes, the work is demanding. But it’s also deeply meaningful. Every mile traveled, every meeting held, every presentation delivered, and every prayer offered is driven by something greater than fatigue. We fight because every life matters—and because no family should have to endure the pain that brought us together.
As Vince Lombardi said: “I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious.”

Last year we pioneered the inaugural Walk for Lives in Birmingham with Robert Branner and James McCarthy (Kathy Drumm McCarthy), this year we’re going REAL Detroit.

Robert Kiessling and I will grab the mic for a few minutes to encourage everyone to extend your walk into the school year. We already have 200 Michigan high school assemblies lined up, and we need more bereaved parent speakers to help make your child’s life story count even more—by having YOU tell it.

Their Daughter Destinee died. Many great American Stories get their start with a comeback - and Robert Branner and his wife Kinyetta are no exception.
