MACC Development
Seeking the holistic revitalization of Detroit's 48214, block by block, neighbor by neighbor. All efforts are targeted in the 48214 zip code.
MACC Development is certified 501(c) community development corporation located on the east side of Detroit. Started in 2010 by members of Mack Avenue Community Church (MACC), MACC Development exists to see the gospel advanced, disciples made, and residents cared for through education, housing and economic development. In the pursuit of a healthier, thriving community, MACC Development leads four initiatives: MACC Lit, MACC Housing, MACC Legal and MACC Sports. These initiatives are all tailored to outspoken needs in the community, and provide a gospel-centered means for linking families to opportunities and resources to which they may not otherwise have access. MACC Lit - one on one tutoring for elementary students; students see an average of nearly 2.5 grade levels of reading growth every year. MACC Housing - repopulating our neighborhood by renovating and repurposing homes and commercial properties for current and future 48214ers. MACC Legal - providing low-cost, professional legal advice, limited representation, and suitable community informational seminars. MACC Sports - a soccer league with more than 120 youth enrolled seasonly, all of which takes place in the up-and-coming Pingree Park. in addition to its programming, MACC Development continues to make strides in concentrated economic development efforts. Specifically, the MACC Building, the Mack Avenue Corridor, and the Pingree Park neighborhood have become strategic focal points for further development in the 48214.

The Detroit Home Repair Pre-Application is now open and will close on Tuesday, September 22 at 5 pm.
To complete your pre-application go to:
portal.neighborlysoftware.com/CITYOFDETROITMI/participant
MACC Development is available to help you with your application at our community center, The Commons Detroit, 7900 Mack Ave., Detroit on:
9 am - 5 pm, Wednesday, September 16, 2026
10 am - 2 pm, Saturday, September 19, 2026
Please note: Pre-Applications are NOT selected on a first come, first served basis. If the Helpline (866 number) is experiencing high call volume, it may be best to call back in a few days.
The City of Detroit Human Homeless & Family Services' Critical Home Repair Program provides free repairs for eligible homeowners, directly addressing the most critical home repair needs.
The Critical Home Repair Program provides funding to address needs like:
-severe plumbing issues
-actively leaking roofs
-lack of working furnace or boiler
-electrical hazards
-accessibility-related repairs to bathrooms and home entrances/exits
To apply for this program, households must meet the following initial requirements:
-Own and occupy a home in the City of Detroit
-Be current on property taxes or in a payment plan
-Have at least one of the following living in their home:
-A child under the age of 18
-A senior age 62+
-A resident with a documented disability (receiving disability benefits)
-Make no more in household income than the limits described in the table above
Funding for home repair is limited so applications with the highest needs will be prioritized for assistance.
Due to limited funding, only the most critical repairs will be funded per selected household. The Program may not be able to support all repair needs for any given home.
The Human Homeless & Family Services will use its online Neighborly system to accept applications. Residents can apply for the Critical Home Repair Program and HHFSβs LeadSafe Housing repair program with one application, during open periods (twice a year).
The September 2026 pre-application period is September 9, 2026 at 8 AM - September 22, 2026 at 5 PM.

You might need to bring out that old washing board. π There are plenty of new "bodies of water" around the neighborhood.
The Commons is closed right now due to a power outage. Sorry for the inconvenience - we'll update here as soon as we reopen. We're expecting to be able to reopen on Sunday morning.
