This past Saturday, Project Clean Slate attended three community events across Detroit!
We joined:
• Detroit City Council District 7's Freedom Festival
• UAW Local 22's Juneteenth Community Festival
• Just Us Now's Returning Citizens Day
Our team had a great time registering Detroiters, reconnecting with former clients, and sharing information about our free expungement program. We look forward to participating in more community events throughout the summer!

Executive Administrative Assistant Sharron Lewis has been a part of Project Clean Slate since August 2022, when the team was comprised of only nine people and had expunged fewer than 1,000 convictions. Today, PCS has surpassed 21,000 expungements, and Sharron has been there every step of the way.
Born and raised in Detroit, Sharron sees herself in many of the people PCS serves.
"It's been humbling because so many of the people we help are just like me — single moms, people from the neighborhood, people who just need an opportunity to move forward," Sharron said.
Sharron said her favorite part of her work is knowing PCS makes a real difference in people's lives. She recalls one moment at PCS's first expungement celebration, when a client approached her and shared that the program had changed her life. The client had been living in her car and, after receiving an expungement, was able to secure employment and get back on her feet.
"That was the moment I knew this was what I was supposed to be doing at this point in my life," Sharron said.
