皆さん　ついに私やりました😭

エレキング/P-Vine Books野田努さんとのコラボで4ページに渡るウェンデル・ハリソンとデトロイトのジャズに関する記事を書いて頂きました。整理すると、ウェンデルのファラオ・サンダーズ・トリビュート版(P-Vine) 発売に寄せてあり、歴史やその部分は全部野田さんです。実際にウェンデルと演奏させてもらっている私がいきなり現れた事で、野田さんが兼ねてから書きたいと思っていたジャズこの企画が可能なりました。

野田さんは私の相方のテクノ画家ハックことAbu Qadim Haqqと90年代からの盟友で、繋いでもらいました。デトロイトテクノやハウス、ディスコなどに関わる事を長年研究され本にしている方です。

その野田さんによる、ジャズ、ビバップ、デトロイトのジャズに巨匠ウェンデル・ハリソン、Tribe Recordsの創始者、生きるビバップのとんでも無い貴重なインタビューです。

是非じっくりと読んでください。文章で読むと、色んな教えが目から鱗です。私も紹介いただいてます。自分は憧れているだけと思っていたんです。

読みながら感無量で泣きました。

自分では出来ない事を野田さんにお願いして良かった。デトロイトを充分理解した黒人音楽専門のライターさんです。この間の東京はこの為に行きました。

Thank you Austin Di Pietro and Detroit Jazz Festival Fdn for having me.

Pleasure working with this group feat. Alex Colista Tom Bartelmay Trevor Lamb Zachary Mckinney we made some good music and exchange of ideas and opinions - really a team work but Austin was a great leader and such a great composer, his music had what I felt was Detroit edge in a very fresh way, to later to find out he really studied deeply of Detroit sound (he wrote a paper about it) and also Linda Yohn off stage told me, my playing reminds her of Tribe 70’s sound as I had my Space Echo on Fender Rhodes That is my ultimate favorite, Marcus Belgrave’s Gemini II Space Odyssey and Glue Fingers vibe. Maybe it takes an outsider like us (Canada is arguably so) to be particularly attracted by sound of Detroit.

Love your music, Austin! Let me pull out my synths as well next one 🤓

Also last but not least my jumpsuit.
It belongs to Abu Qadim Haqq mom who I have never met, but most of my clothes at festivals are hers and they’re all vintage from 60s and 70s.

I found them magically stored away after already have found so many great clothes, hats and shoes before that - I didn’t expect to see this batch of dresses and jumpsuits - until 2 of my parcels with my gig dresses didn’t arrive - and boom.

it’s a long magical story - but making it short, I told her that morning I will take you to the Detroit jazz festival, so I wore her jumpsuit and performed - and as you can imagine after the show, everybody talked to me because of my jumpsuit was so striking and Boy she’s gotten some compliments world class on the world class stage.

I have a lot more stories about her collection, and I hope to tell you every time I pick her clothes to come with me to the festival.

I love Detroit and jazz so much. I hope to experience Canada soon 🙂

I forgot my phone yesterday to the festival (it was at home) - Austin’s wife Kaitlyn took really amazing photos!

For those who came to our show thank you so much - it was a surreal great experience right by The border - and it was my absolute pleasure working with Austin, Alex, Tom, Trevor, Zach and Detroit Jazz Festival team. And last but not least, the warmest most excited enthusiastic audience in the whole world.

Thank you so much for your continued support! First, a huge thank you to everyone who joined the Japanese Speaking Patreon member study session on August 31st — Aya talked for 90 minutes about why she moved to Detroit and everything she has felt since then. We are planning to hold another one later this month!

勉強会とても良い時間でした！！
参加して下さった皆さんありがとうございました！思っていたより色んな話が出来ました。質問コーナーもとっても良い質問いただき話しが広がりました。皆さんの反応が嬉しかったです。

今回はモト(マネージャー)と私の初共同企画でしたが、私は宣伝はしましたが、カメラや音声のテストから参加者の管理／誘導、アンケート作成などは任せ、私は内容と実際の話をするのみ。トーク中は、話している側からリンクを送ってくれたり、ファインプレーしてくれたので皆さんにも色々リアルタイムで行き渡りました。

マネージャーのモトとの初プロジェクトでしたが、お陰様でまずは大成功でした。
シリーズなので来月もします。雰囲気的には一ヶ月に一回が良い気がします。皆さんの予定もあるしね。
テーマなどコンテンツはアンケートも見つつ決めていこうと思います。

なお、今日のセッションは録画してありますので、Patreonのメンバーの方に見れるようにします！90分ほぼ喋りましたが、楽しんで頂けてよかった。
