A little reminder that maybe the “chic” thing to do is to make room for connection, play, movement, and meaningful learning. ✨

Because therapy doesn’t have to look like sitting still, following directions, or checking boxes.

Sometimes it looks like getting outside.

Sometimes it looks like playing the same game 47 times. 😂

Sometimes it looks like a visual schedule, a sensory break, or following a child’s lead.

Less compliance. More connection. More play.

Kinda chic, if you ask me. ✨

Hi! I’m Casandra, and I love being an RBT because I get the opportunity to make a positive impact in children’s lives every day. One of the biggest things I’ve learned since becoming an RBT is that patience, consistency, and celebrating small victories can make a huge difference in a child’s success.

Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, listening to music, going on walks, and spending time with family and friends. If my friends had to describe me in three words, they would probably say I’m positive , caring, and dependable.

I’m grateful to be part of the Remedy Therapy team and look forward to continuing to help children grow and succeed.

Your heart, passion, and dedication never go unnoticed! ❤️

Play can be both fun *and* purposeful 🌱

To an outsider, it might look like we’re just playing.

Blowing bubbles.
Rolling cars.
Building towers.
Making silly sounds.

But play isn’t a break from learning—it *is* the learning.

We follow the child’s interests and use meaningful moments to support development in ways that feel engaging, connected, and enjoyable.

✨ What play is really building:

🫧 **Shared attention & connection**
Learning to notice, engage with, and enjoy experiences together.

🤝 **Trust & relationships**
Strong therapeutic relationships create a safe foundation for learning, exploration, and confidence.

💬 **Authentic communication**
Supporting children in expressing their wants, needs, thoughts, and ideas using whatever communication works best for them—whether that’s spoken language, gestures, signs, typing, or AAC.

🧠 **Thinking & problem-solving**
Exploring, experimenting, taking turns, making choices, and discovering new ways to interact with the world.

🎯 **Motor & daily living skills**
Building coordination, planning, and independence through meaningful play and everyday routines.

At Remedy Therapy, we don’t separate learning from play.

Because when learning is meaningful, progress follows🩵

Toddlers (roughly 18 months–4 years old) aren’t usually ignoring instructions, they’re processing the world differently than adults.

Instead of repeating yourself 50 times (which is exhausting 😅), try saying what TO do rather than what NOT to do, and add a little sprinkle of play on top.

✨ Same boundary.
✨ Same expectation.
✨ Just presented in a way that’s more engaging for a toddler brain.

Instead of:
“Stop running!”
Try:
“Show me your walking feet!”

Or:
“Don’t climb on the table!”
Try:
“Feet stay on the floor..”

Does this apply to neurodivergent toddlers too? Absolutely.

Many neurodivergent children, including autistic children and those with ADHD or language delays, may need more processing time, clearer language, visual supports, movement, or a lower-pressure way to receive information. When we shift from repeated demands to playful, supportive guidance, we often reduce stress and make it easier to understand what’s expected.

The goal isn’t to be permissive or avoid boundaries. The boundary stays the same. We’re simply communicating it in a way that supports how young learners learn, process, and engage with the world.

💛 Connection often gets us much further than repeating ourselves louder or more often.

One of the most meaningful shifts we can make in supporting communication is how we approach everyday language with children.

Start by trying to model language instead of asking so many questions.

The reason this matters is because constant questioning can put pressure to respond, increases “performance” demands, and often turns communication into a test instead of a natural exchange. When that happens, some children shut down, guess, or rely on prompting rather than truly learning how language is used.

Modeling does the opposite. When you narrate what you’re doing, describe what your child is focused on, and comment instead of question, you’re showing them how language works in real life—without demanding anything back. That’s where real communication builds: shared attention, low pressure, and meaningful connection.

Being non-speaking doesn’t mean not understanding.
Many non-speaking individuals understand far more than people assume.
They hear you.
They process.
They feel.
Communication is not limited to spoken words.
Always presume competence.

Today is World Autism Awareness Day—a reminder to not only raise awareness, but to actively practice acceptance, inclusion, and respect. Every. Damn. Day!

Autism is part of neurodiversity—different ways of thinking, learning, and experiencing the world. There is no one “look” or “path,” just individuals with their own strengths, needs, and voices that deserve to be heard.

Let’s move with intention:
💙 Support without judgment
💙 Listen and learn from autistic individuals
💙 Create inclusive and safe environments
💙 Celebrate differences

Awareness is important—but acceptance makes the difference.
