BUILD-HER.ORG IS ONE IN A MILLION
We are excited to be part of the Canva milestone of supporting 1 million nonprofits around the world! 🌎
As a nonprofit, tools like Canva help turn our mission into something people can see, share, and connect with.
Build-Her.Org is one tiny organization among a million, but we are proud to share this milestone with other nonprofits that canva supports who represent a mission, a community, and people working towards making an impact.

ENTERING YEAR 3
Build-Her.Org was founded on March 11, 2024, and Build-Her, Be Heard was published on August 19, 2024. Now, both are in their third year—and there is plenty to celebrate.
Since its release, the book has traveled to bookshelves, conferences, and group events across the United States, Canada, and Guam. What began as a journaling and reflection guide has become another way for women in construction and the skilled trades to reflect on their journeys, share their experiences, and make their voices heard.
Haven’t picked up a copy yet? Visit our website to learn more, and while you’re there, join the new Build-Her.Org Community.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support this mission by sharing your stories, contributing to our research, and helping advance advocacy for women throughout construction and the skilled trades.
DO YOU HAVE CLARITY?
When I share my story and the stories of other women, we often talk about the moment they realized this could become a career, what excites them about the work, and what keeps them moving through the tough days.
Purpose helps us push forward. Clarity helps us understand where we are going.
Listen in to another snippet from my conversation with Amanda Severs as she shares why clarity is such an important step.
What has helped you find clarity in your career?

WHAT IF WE KNEW EARLIER?
In the Seen, Supported, Staying. Study, one of the focuses is on how these careers were visible or accessible to women who finally landed their career in a trade or in construction.

STORY FEATURE: SHAE
From entering an electrical apprenticeship not quite knowing what to expect, to building a career in construction safety, Shae’s story is a reminder that you don’t need the entire path mapped out before you start.

So many of us have found purpose, pride, and passion in our trades and construction careers.
Whether it’s working with our hands, troubleshooting, problem solving, or being part of building great things within a great team or community. Through many conversations with women in this industry I have seen that a lot of women, including myself, wish they knew about the opportunities earlier.
Keep following as Amanda and I share what a purpose driven career could look like and how talking it through with someone can truly give you some clarity on the direction you can take!

SHOWING UP FULLY AS YOURSELF MATTERS
For Shae, embracing femininity means being 100% herself and seeing others do the same inspires her to own that even more.
What helps you feel most like yourself at work?
…BUT IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO?
Our latest story highlights comes from Shae who started out in the electrical trade then found a strong interest in the safety aspect of the trade.
She shares insights from what she learned from the apprenticeship and how she continues to carry that in her career in everything she does.
We’ll be sharing Shae’s full feature soon!
