Successful throwbagging is about options. That requires understanding the vectors and terrain that we are using. As always, dont be downstream of a Rope, and dont wrap a rope around your hand.
Shallow water crossing (wading) is a crucial skill for rescue personnel. Almost all flood rescues contain an element of wading. Crucially, the ideal training spot should contain water that is powerful enough to be challenging, while not being easily swimmable. This site has about 18 inches of water, and swimming was possible but miserable. Walking was by far preferable, but not easy.
Steep angle terrain produces a variety of challenges for a basket attendant. Being comfortable changing positions is important. In this clip, you can see the attendant make the change at the top of the cliff, but the identical position could have been utilized throughout.
