5 reasons you should try private Pilates lessons

1. Faster results. Your instructor’s undivided attention means you get direct feedback, move more efficiently, and progress more quickly.
2. Custom workouts. A lesson is built around your needs and goals so you can grow without risking further injury.
3. Room to focus. Without the distraction of a group class, your full attention is on the workout, leading to more precision and control.
4. Flexible scheduling. Your lesson happens when it works for you so you’ll have fewer skipped workouts and more consistency.
5. Accountability. A dedicated instructor and a standing weekly appointment keep you committed so you build the confidence to perform your best.

A good Pilates teacher sees what you’re capable of before you do — and helps you get there.

In private Pilates classes, my goal is to help you reach your full potential. Through one-on-one training, you’ll perfect that new move, work your whole body every session, and build the endurance to support fitness outside of the studio.

I start every class by asking how everyone's body feels. Last night someone said, "my forearms are cranky from too much mousing at work."

Computer work and scrolling are unavoidable, and our hands, wrists, and forearms take the brunt of it. A few minutes of foam rolling goes a long way.

Work the meaty part of your palm below the thumb, then the top and underside of the forearm — and don't skip the place above the elbow, where the tendon anchors in.

Roll up and down, then turn your hand like a windshield wiper to work across the muscle, not just along it.

Two or three minutes a day is enough to feel a difference — at your desk and when you train.

Save this for your next long day at your desk, or in your grip the next time you train.

Runners — want to feel better in your miles?

Join me Saturday, May 16 at 9am for a free 45-minute mat Pilates class Bull City Running Co., in conjunction with the Running of the Bulls Course Preview. We'll work on mobility, strength, and the body awareness that makes the difference between grinding through a run and actually moving well.

No experience needed. Just bring a mat.

Open to all runners — whether you're previewing the course after class or not.
