Yesterday, interns local to our Durham office enjoyed a Durham Bulls game and even got a special behind the scenes look inside the Bulls' broadcast operations, led by the Explorer Post 50 crew.

Ever wondered what goes into our NFL season prep? 🏈
In early July, we kick things off with a massive systems build at our Durham HQ for one of our biggest shows, Sunday Night Football on NBC.
From there, our remote operators load the software and ensure everything is running smoothly before shipping out the equipment.
Next, the team travels to NEP Group headquarters in Pittsburgh to install our equipment into the production truck and integrate the systems, in addition to running tests and setting up workstations.
Now, they're headed to Canton, Ohio, for the final stage—the on-site prep—ahead of next week's opening preseason game, the NFL Hall of Fame game.

Every year since 2009, we have provided our technology solutions to enhance the world's most prestigious and grueling cycling event, Le Tour de France. 🚵
This year's race spanned approximately 3,321 kilometers across 23 stages and featured 23 teams and 184 riders.
As Tadej Pogačar closed in on his impressive fifth overall title, SMT's real-time data integration and graphics helped viewers follow every climb, sprint, and pivotal moment.
Among our graphic tools were ISO Track pointers for rider identification, the upper "Hat" graphic displaying essential race information, a scrolling ticker with live updates, and additional graphics and visualizations that gave commentators powerful storytelling tools throughout each stage.

Counting down to tonight’s PFL action in Washington, D.C.! 👊
Since 2018, we’ve partnered with PFL MMA to deliver data-driven graphics, real-time stats, and ringside clocks that keep fans connected to every second inside the cage.
Tonight’s event is headlined by #3 Thad “The Silverback” Jean (11-0) vs. #8 Ernesto “Starboy” Rodriguez (11-1) for the PFL Welterweight World Championship.

A few weeks ago, we debuted our new elevation graphic for NASCAR on TNT Sports, revealing the constant changes in elevation at Sonoma Raceway.
To make the graphic intuitive for viewers, the data was normalized to start at zero at the start/finish line rather than displaying elevation above sea level. This provided fans with an easy-to-understand baseline for comparing the dramatic climbs and descents throughout the track.
On Sunday, the graphic returned to the broadcast, helping commentators enhance their storytelling as drivers navigated the elevation changes at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Take a look: ⬇️

Reflecting on another successful year at The Open ⛳
Since 2010, we've served as the official scoring provider for this historic golf major. Over the years, we've continued to deliver innovative technology that enhances every piece of the tournament, from the fan and player experience to officials, media, and broadcast operations.
This year's championship at Royal Birkdale brought together several SMT teams to deliver a large-scale deployment of solutions, demonstrating the collaboration and expertise that make events like this possible.

For the second consecutive year, we teamed up with NTT DATA and ENP Media to power the newly reimagined data wall at The Open. 🏌️
Optimizing Unreal Engine, we rendered a 3D recreation of the Royal Birkdale course using high-resolution terrain and LiDAR scans, developing an immersive virtual environment.
The NTT DATA Wall experience gives fans:
🏌️Real-time visualizations such as ShotView (featuring player stroke trails and distance data)
📍 Flyovers with game locators, hole stats, drive distance scatter charts and live player updates
📊 A dynamic leaderboard display with projected cut line information, weather integration and player tracking

Hands-on experience is one of the best ways to learn, as SMT Operations Intern Evan Rinehart can attest. 🙌
Our summer interns are already halfway through the program, and they're putting classroom knowledge into practice by traveling to live events and working from our remote production studios.
From QA, Engineering and Operations to Events, Marketing and Graphic Design, our interns have been making valuable contributions across the company. We're excited to see where this internship takes them!
