Starting a new job that uses a POS system? This post is for you.

POS stands for Point of Sale. It is the system a business uses to complete a sale when a customer pays for a product or service.

You may use one in a shop, café, restaurant, salon or other customer-facing workplace. A POS system can include a touchscreen or computer, card machine, barcode scanner, receipt printer and software that connects everything.

A POS system can help you:
• Accept cash, card and contactless payments
• Add products and calculate the total
• Apply discounts or make corrections
• Record and track sales
• Update stock levels
• Print or send receipts
• Check basic sales information

It may feel unfamiliar at first, but you do not need to know everything on your first day. Start by learning the main screen, how to add an item, how to take payment and how to ask for help when something does not look right.

With a little practice, the steps will begin to feel routine. Every confident cashier, retail assistant or server started by learning one transaction at a time.

Changing a few words does not always prevent plagiarism.🔎

Before submitting your work, make sure you:
• Use your own words
• Credit every source
• Add quotation marks for direct quotes
• Check your work with a plagiarism tool

Good research means understanding information and giving credit where it is due.
