ASHIM is a voluntary, non-governmental, member organization that conducts nationally recognized HIT certification for computer science and information technology professionals to demonstrate skills necessary to efficiently integrate computer technology in the health care field. The Certified Health Informatics Systems Professional (CHISP) credential was developed in response to a national need for a skilled Health IT workforce able to support the adoption of Health IT that improves quality of care and efficiency, while maintaining patient privacy and security. CHISP is the credential that certifies the Health IT knowledge of the Health IT workforce.
