September 26th is going to be BIG! The Makery and Boxyard RTP are teaming up to celebrate Worldwide Day of Play with a full day of free, family fun. From 11am to 5pm, you can jam to live music, explore hands-on activities with our Mobile Museum, bounce your energy out in a bouncy castle, enjoy a magician and cartoon artist, and move with the American Dance Festival.

Head back to school in style! This month’s Makery project is Back to School Pencil Pouches, where you can design and decorate your very own pencil pouch to carry all your supplies for the new school year. 🎨

We're bringing Kindred Spirit Candle Company back to the Makery for another workshop—this time, it's just for the adults. Join us for Crafter Dark on Friday, July 31, for an evening of candle making, drinks, and creativity. Tickets are $35 per person and include one handmade wax candle and two drink tickets. Grab your spot and join us for a fun night at the Makery! 🕯️

We’re so excited to introduce our new summer intern, Justin! Justin earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Engineering Management at Duke University. He has a strong passion for STEM education and has been involved in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) since high school, where he helped lead his team to three national championships. He brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to The Makery, and we’re thrilled to have him with us this summer!

The Makery is so excited to take part in the Durham Rotary Club Flag Day Ceremony on Saturday, June 13th from 9:00–9:45 AM at Hub RTP. Families can enjoy a hands-on craft activity alongside a meaningful community event featuring music, a color guard ceremony, and a field of 500 flags honoring local heroes.
