Whenever someone asks me what surprised me most about Zanzibar, my answer is never the beaches. They are beautiful BUT...

It's the spice farms.

Walking through the gardens, you'll recognize familiar scents like cinnamon, vanilla, cloves, and cardamom—but experiencing them where they're grown is something entirely different. Every plant has a story, and every stop becomes a conversation with the people who've cared for this land for generations.

It's quiet, unhurried, and wonderfully unexpected.

Moments like these remind me that the heart of a destination isn't always found at its most famous landmarks. Sometimes it's tucked away in the places that don't make every travel guide.

Those are often the experiences my travelers remember most.

Sometimes it's the places you never planned for that become your favorite.

There are certain moments in the Serengeti that simply can't be recreated.

Golden hour is one of them.

As the sun begins to rise or settles below the horizon, the landscape transforms. The grasses glow with warm amber light, the sky softens into shades of gold and peach, and the wildlife becomes more active as the day quietly begins or comes to a close.

It's during these hours that the Serengeti is alive.

The photos you'll take are beautiful, but it's the feeling of watching elephants cross the plains in the golden light or hearing the sounds of the bush as the sun rises that stays with you long after you've returned home.

Some moments aren't meant to be rushed.

They're meant to be experienced.

Carry on is the only way I travel. I've learned that less is more and anything you really need, you can buy at your destination. If they don't have it there, you probably don't really need it 😉.

Some places in the world and specific airlines are more strict about their carry on baggage weight allowance.

Save yourself some frustration by checking the carry on limits and then carrying a handheld luggage scale when you travel.

These little devices cost about $10 and weigh next to nothing themselves.

Unmasked isn’t your typical women’s retreat. It’s a few days to step outside your usual role, loosen the expectations, and see what happens when you give yourself permission to simply PLAY. You can dress up every day, join the witchy crew, or happily wear your favorite sweater. There’s no right way to do Unmasked.

Most importantly, you don’t need to arrive knowing anyone. Women come solo and leave with new friends, inside jokes, and memories they never could have planned.
