East Rochester Fire Department

This month is Fire Prevention Month, and we’ll be visiting kids this month to review fire safety, and what to do in the event of a fire.
Part of this will be reviewing/developing an exit plan to get out of the house. When making your plan, you should think about the following items:

- Find two ways out
- All windows and doors should open easily
- You should be able to use them to get outside
- Make sure your home has smoke alarms
-Push the test button to make sure each alarm is working
- Pick a meeting place outside
- It should be somewhere near the street in front of your home
- Everyone will meet at the meeting place
- Make sure your house or building number can be seen from the street.
- Talk about your plan with everyone in your home
- Practice your home fire drill routinely

On Wednesday, October 7th this week, we’ll be putting the kids to the test. At 6pm, we’ll start driving down our streets with lights and sirens. When you hear us, we want them to practice their escape plan and go to their meeting spot. When we come by, we’ll meet them there and give them a prize!
We look forward to seeing them at their meeting spots!

On Saturday, October 24th, come by the East Rochester Fire Department from 11am to 4pm for the Craft Show. There will be a fill the boot fundraiser for the ERFD, and raffle prizes. Hots and hamburgers will be available for purchase as well. Please park at the Eyer Buildng next door as parking at the Firehall is for ERFD firefighters only.
